Thumbs up Most easiest config ever for WA3002G4 BSNL modem

    Hi Guys,

I think its time that BSNL customer care got some appreciation. I happened to screw up with my Modem settings and i tried scanning the forums for the correct settings but none of them ver successful and reluctantly called up the CC - Tech support (1800-424-1600) Not sure if it is all india but sure works for bangalore . Thanks to a sweet lady who picked up the call and gave me the correct settings to my modem and guess what - it worked. Well here goes

    She said -

    1. Goto 192.168.1.1
    2. Enter U/N & Pwd which is Admin in both cases.
    3. Goto Advanced setup page.
    4. Under remove column except the first one check all of them.
    5. Hit the remove button to delete all the other connections.
    6. Click the only edit button left out.
    7. Hit the next button.
    8. Again hit the next button.
    9. Enter your username and password.
    10. Check the "Retry PPP password on authentication error"
    11. Check the "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports (Default Enabled)"
    12. Hit next button.
    13. Check if the Enable Wan option is enabled and hit next.
    14. Hit Save button.

That should do it. Do lemme knw if it worked for you guys.

    Hope it helps.....

Many a times we assume too much. For example, we assume that calling the BSNL help line will do no good, they have a bunch of idiots out there, etc., etc.

But my own experience is as follows:

    a) They know the settings for the modems sold/rented by BSNL (hence they will not support any outside modem).
    b) They have a standard cook book and recipe book out of which they read out the solution to you. With practice they get better too.
    c) I have at least found the guys wanting to help - no one ever abused me.
    d) Be a little patient with them; also be nice and they will help you. The word "please" will do wonders and it will be pointless to shout/threaten when reasoning will do (use Don Vito Corleone's method).

However, they cannot help with line problems, frequent disonnections, etc. What they do is take down your complaint and pass the info to the exchange in concern. Also they cannot access your billing records or take down request for plan change, etc.

I found out another funny thing. Even after 4 months, I was unable to get my portal-id. The local exchange is closed on 2nd and 4th Saturday and it is not possible to visit them on weekdays. Hence I called Bangalore NOC (080 - 25808899). They provided me the portal-id.
*** Never argue with an idiot. ***

Are you sure about the settings. If anything goes wrong and if called the JTO -KMD exchange. He eats my brain to repair it.

a little thing to add.don't set IP as 192.168.1.1 because this is reserved for your modem.if you are using USB port to connect to modem choose any IP after 192.168.1.2 & if you are using LAN port choose any IP after 192.168.1.1.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Dude i think you got it all wrong... 192.168.1.1 in your browser address bar
    not in the lan settings...

192.168.1.1 is how u access your modem settings through the web browser.....

    1. Open Mozilla or IE
    2. Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit enter.
    3. U/n and pwd is both "admin" by default.

    1. Assign a static IP to the server. Something like 192.168.1.200.
    2. Go to router configuration. Put the above address in NAT-DMZ option.
    3. Your server is now accessible to the outside world.

Warning: You server is now exposed to hacking attacks. Put a goof firewall in place.

Do you need WIFI ? are you using a laptop ?
If not disturb settings in modem/router for wireless.
If still want to usw WIfi see previous post. you have to use security codes.
    In Network/Wireless Network/properties
You will see this network is "secured" "need security code to access "" connect " etc
    wordings from memory!
    Para two:
Please post screen shot of the page where you could see his computer name and mac address ? will help so many others to check and take precaution.
