Question Cannot open a lot of sites in PPPoE (Nokia Siemens C2110)

Just configured my new Nokia Siemens C2110 modem for PPPoE mode. The BSNL guy probably configured it to bridged. Anyways, since I was having problems with frequent disconnections (the damn network connection symbol itself would disappear) and I would have to redial, even though it was set for repeated dialing.

This problem was solved with PPPoE. No disconnections and utorrent is working fine .. don;t have to get up and keep checking. Speeds are still the same (I have UL 750) so can;t really complain. Top dl speed is 30 kBps or so. Usually more like 20-25kBps.

Now I have a new problem, in that I can;t open most sites. The ones that I have bookmarked, including this forum open just fine. Mozilla opens up, so does Google. But if I do a search on Google then I can;t open most of the results. Gives the usual cannot open message. Big problem as I rely on the web for most of my legit (also ) research. have I done something wrong in the PPPoE config? :taz:

I run Win XP, SP 2
    With McAfee Enterprise AV
utorrent says that ports are forwarded fine. just in case.

any help will be most appreciated

Try changing the DNS settings in the modem to OpenDNS IP address:

    Primary: 208.67.222.222
    Secondary: 208.67.220.220

    This may resolve your issues.

You can switch to open DNS as Just4kix said but if the problem still not solved then your problem is due to a trojan. this trojan is not detected by many leading fully updated antivirus solutions. The only solution I know is to download Microsoft liveone care. from microsoft site. you can use it free for 90 days.

Will try what you've suggested. Since I'm a total layman ... where exactly will I be able to do what you've suggested?
... checked the modem settings but couldn't find it ...

let me check the forum as well ..

    Thanks though.
