Thanks just4kix,

"a) Home 888 Plus: 256 kbps-(6.30am-10:30pm), 512 kbps-(10:30pm-6:30am) @ Rs. 888 (plus tax) pm"

This is what I currently have. Basically I burnt my hands with a limited package, so I wanted a good UL package. I took this.

Don't go for UL750 plan. The speed will drive you mad.

If you have Airtel in you area, they give a reasonable service. They have the following unlimited plans that match the above BSNL plan:

a) Home 888 Plus: 256 kbps-(6.30am-10:30pm), 512 kbps-(10:30pm-6:30am) @ Rs. 888 (plus tax) pm
b) Home 1499: 512 kbps @ Rs. 1499 (plus tax) pm

So in effect, Airtel's plans are costlier. That is all that can be said.
So, Home 888 Plus is better than the previous BSNL Home 900UL plan? What is the average speed for this plan, at the two time spaces?

Airtel's Home 888 plan is a recent addition. It did not exist when BSNL's UL900 plan existed. No ISP has been able to beat BSNL on prices as yet.

You mean you get that speed in torrents or otherwise also?

If just torrents, check whether port is forwarded. Also check SNR and line attenuation values from modem's status page. Post the same here.
