    Default New BSNL boradband connection

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me about the time BSNL guys take in giving a new connection? I used to have Airtel in my old locality in Noida, have shifted to a new locality where Airtel doesn't have services. I need to apply for b-phone first I guess? So how much time are they going to take after I deposite the sum, as I am sure they are not going to be as quick as private companies.

    Thanks in advance!!

    Time taken to give connection varies from exchange to exchange. You can apply for a new phone connection together with Broadband.

    May you get a connection ASAP.

    it depends upon area to area... waisae to install ADSL it takes about 2weeks normally... now it depends on your exchange and area... better idea is to confirm this with your local exchange... they can give you a better idea..

    Default Landline installation and BB activation...

    I am having very pleasant experience with BSNL. I have registered online for the B-Fone and BB. After that I gave a call to customer care. They told me to submit the hard copy to nearest exchange. I was planning to go by weekend but BSNL people came to my house with landline and BB application form. I filled the form on Saturday and I got lalndline installed and running by Monday evening. It took 4 days to activate BB. I really appreciate the prompt service done by BSNL a PSU hmy:

    @Prashant
    Well! it's kind of different for me as I have been using Airtel for last 2 years!! in terms of customer service those guys are also dead as they feel no competition in the market to them so no obligations towards customer but at least one doesn't have to face problem with the connection. For the 2 years I never had a single day where my connection faced any issue I was only displeased with them when I applied for a wireless router and they never told me about exact availability of the router neither installed one still charged me for the same.

    I hope I don't have to face any connection related issues with the BSNL otherwise I am dead meat. I called them on the toll free helpline about the availability of connection in sector 47, the guy on the helpline first cut the call, second time he said "Sir you need to contact your local BSNL office" what in the name of GOD the helpline is existing for if everything has to be reported to local BSNL office. GOD save INDIA!!!

    BSNL's CC works to resolve techical issues only. My personal experience with them has been OK. I would rate them 7/10.But that is not the case with rest of the country. So please don't throw bricks at me.

    Having said that, the BSNL CC cannot help you with the following:

    - New connections and sales
    - Billing issues
    - Line problems (they will take down your complaint and pass it on to the exchange)

    99% of the times your problems will be solved only by the local exchange folks.

    A personal rapport with the local linesman will more than help. Slipping an occassional Rs. 100/- to the linesman during Diwali will definitely do the trick. Don't call this as a bribe - more like satisfaction reward. But always make clear to the person that this is a reward linked to happiness and may go down or disappear if your satisfaction goes down. Also have his mobile number with you. Please make him feel valued - after all ego plays a big part. And finally never fight - keep smiling but insist on service and be assertive.

    Maybe this is all wrong in the purist theory but being aggressive and demanding does not help.
    *** Never argue with an idiot. ***

    @just4kix
    yup!! that's what I am betting on!!! otherwise there are couple of cable internet providers in the locality but I don't want to go with them as I have had a bad experience of almost 3 months with them.
    There exist no purist theory in a corrupt system... Money get channelled to wrong hands for wrong purposes(politicians) even when you pay it to the right channels... Money goes to right hands(service providers like linemen) even when you give it through wrong means(bribes).... only glitch (reason for guilt) is people who can't afford bribes get affected by these habitual bribe-takers and indirectly we help such causes...

    Damn!!! no philosophy on technical forums....
