Well unfortunately the Sleep function doesnt work well with ubuntu.. so if it works with your hardware your just lucky!!
23 17 * * * pon dsl-provider
i tried this function in crontab -e it worked but when i tried
25 17 * * * deluge
(i think this is the right command to start deluge torrent client)
it didn't work. why?
well i dont use deluge so i really cant say.. try deluge-torrent
when i enter deluge in terminal it works but when i add it to scheduler it doesn't work.
ok try this..may work.. open ubuntu text editor and type deluge in it and save it as deluge.txt .. save it in your home folder i.e. /home/yourname .. then browse to the folder and right click on deluge.txt and click on properties and then go to permissions and check "Allow executing file as program" .. then open terminal and type sh deluge.txt .. if deluge opens then you can add that to cron..
sh deluge.txt works but when i add it to crontab it doesn't work. anyway what torrent manager do u use for ubuntu.
did you add sh deluge.txt as follows
15 2 * * * sh deluge.txt
for testing purposes change 2:15 to current time..
i use utorrent with wine, works great!!
i tried but not working. anyway since there is no scheduler to open from suspend mode i'll start deluge at 10 pm itself and then schedule pon dsl-provider at 2.05am with moniter switched off.
i'm fed up of utorrent so no more of it.
but please inform me (in future) when u come across any other scheduler which will open ubuntu from suspend mode. i am also a member of your blog. its very beneficial. thanks
hey frnds i am new to torrent stuff, so yesterday i was hownloading hancok(699m) which was downloading at 50kb/sec. so any accc tips please
i use c2110
homeplan 500
bsnl
i havent got a chance to mess with sleep mode as it doesnt work well with my system..will try out if possible..
@sb21pro
do you see a green tick mark icon? have you port forwarded
to-superprash2003
where?? in modem??
i have not forwarded any thing ,all is default.
ok prashanth i'll try sleep(suspend mode is only there) and reply if it works
@sb21pro
look for green tick mark in your torrent software.. are you on bridged mode or ppoe mode?
suspend mode worked in the beginning but now after i installed various packages it says
"your computer failed to suspend"
actually when i click suspend it takes me to the login page and asks for password. if i leave the computer in this login page will it save some energy?
when i enter password it brings back all the applications.
so answer this question
1.i first start deluge.
2.then press suspend. it takes me to the login screen. i switch off the monitor and sleep.
3.the scheduler (pon dsl-provider) starts at 2:05am and deluge starts downloading.
i checked these 3 steps it work
my question is
will step 2 save some power? or will it consume same power as when
i omit step 2 and just turn off the monitor and sleep?
the login screen is not sleep mode.. so it would consume same power.. better omit step 2 .. turn of monitor and SLEEP![]()
hibernate mode works but its of no use to my situation since i need to manually press power button to on the computer. or is there a way to wake up computer from hibernate mode?
ya "neo extreme"
im mrinal from gariahat, kolkata!
having 500 plan!
I Can browse d websites pretty well!
But when it comes 2 downding part!It really sucks! getting speed of only 60kbps!
When using torrent spped remains between 50 to 80 kbps!
Its happening for 2 months!!!
But Got speed of 170 to 200kbps while using torrent just 3 months ago!!
But dis creepy speed problem started 2 begin in d month of june! I Complained bsnl abt dis visited d exchange also!talked with d officials 15 times!they said they can do nothing abt speed!
i tell guys dere is no spyware, virus trojan kind a thing in my machine!
Line is perfect(checked by bsnl 3 times)But broadband section still cant do any thing!I dont understand upto may'2008 the speed was quite good!!
but from june speed is horrible! My frnd in my area also started complning abt speed probs!
God knows when it will become normal!
My friends, I am not defending BSNL. But please read the fine print.
In case of limited usage plans, BSNL promises a minium speed of 256 kbps (32 KB/s) but usually much more than that. The maximum speed that will be provided will be 2 mbps (256 KB/s).
Many people expect that they should get 2 mbps by right. That is not so.

I am also experincing slow browsing speed here in Jaipur. It has been taking loys of time to browse the normal sites.Download speed seems to be fine.Only browsing is slow.Few sites which I normally search are not getting opened at all.The error message is that "Explorer can not open the site".In few sites which get opened, I am not able to see the pictures in it. I see a red cross sign instead.
Can anyone help....

When SNR margin values are low - that means you will get frequent disconnections.
When Line Attenuation rate is high - it means that the line has too much resistance in the circuit. Consequently your speed will suffer.
You must report the problem to your exchange in writing. Preferably write a typed letter and paste the above screen shot in the complaint. Always make a duplicate and get the "RECEIVED" stamp + Date/Signature on your copy.
Thank you Just4kix. I will complain in writing. and in the manner prescribed.
