Default download speed problem with u torrent

For the last few days i am not getting good speed with u torrent.Though the port is forwarded (green light is shown on the task bar, which means connection is ok),but still getting 40-50 kb/s .This problem has started occurring after i formatted my computer, before that i used to get 200-250 kb/s speed. It is not that i am downloading torrents with less seeds, the torrent i am downloading contains large number of seeds. so please help me & please someone tell me how much speed i must allocate for uploading.

    a) Try applying the TCPIP.sys patch. Google it, download it and apply it. Change max half open connections settings (Advanced setting) in uTorrent to 50.
    b) Your firewall may be blocking peer-to-peer connections. Enable uTorrent in your firewall.
    c) Try upgrading to uTorrent 1.8. It may also help.

In case of limited usage plans, BSNL promises a minium speed of 256 kbps (32 KB/s) but usually much more than that. The maximum speed that will be provided will be 2 mbps (256 KB/s).

Many people expect that they should get 2 mbps by right. That is not so.

BSNL is not cheating you. They are giving you what they are saying and promising. So I do not know why you say "BSNL Sucks".

another thing is for most broadband isp, they all mention "Upto". They never mentioned Below or Above or Exact. They Even mention on the paper... or websites... "Speeds are subject to "Technical Feasibility"

Therefore always read rules and regulations and query if u do not follow.

As per TRAI regulation, a BB connection must promise and deliver at least 256 kbps.

    Hi Whitestar,

i'm using this D-link ADSL2 - GLB-502T modem. after logging into 192.168.1.1 page, i cudn't find where to change these SNR and Attenuation figures.

At testing the speed at Speedtest.net, it shows the Download at 1368kbps and Upload at 252kbps.

    http : // ww w . speedtest . net/result/319138468.png

have seen few ppl getting the downlaod upto 2100's kbps...

plz let know how can i change the dsl settings for my D-link modem.

after logging into 192.198.1.1 page, under the status tab, in Modem status tab, i get the following figures:

    Modem Status
    Connection Status Connected
    Us Rate (Kbps) 862
    Ds Rate (Kbps) 2043
    US Margin 9
    DS Margin 22
    Trained Modulation ADSL_2plus
    LOS Errors 0
    DS Line Attenuation 14
    US Line Attenuation 4
Peak Cell Rate 2033 cells per sec
    CRC Rx Fast 0
    CRC Tx Fast 0
    CRC Rx Interleaved 0
    CRC Tx Interleaved 0
    Path Mode Interleaved

    DSL Statistics
Near End F4 Loop Back Count 0
Near End F5 Loop Back Count 0

    Thought this might be helpful.

also, if any other member has any idea abt the same, plzzzzzzz help...

    Thnx,

    Regards.

Question Low torrent speed at night

It not about optimizing torrent client. Its about getting low speed at 2am to 8am in BSNL Home 500 plan(chennai).I usually shedule my download and i will get low speeds.but previous month I have 450 mb left so I completed sixth sense movie speed stabilized at around 190 kbps after ten minute upto 3 minutes before completion. I was suprised so I decided to test.I download same file at 2am asked my friend who has tata indicom to download it.I recieved 40 but he 200.
I checked speed in dap its 213kbps. what is the real problem. Is BSNL supressing P2P networks what done in USA and other countries. How to overcome this (encrypt option in utorrent failed)

To the best of my knowledge no ISP is suppressing speeds for Torrent

In U.S Comcast got busted by Consumer forum for suppressing torrents ....

Check this site for details about suppressing torrents and other p2p N/W

BSNL slueths are located at NIB, Bangalore and they are quite competent people out there. Only the NIB servers can block torrents and trust me, if BSNL wanted to block P2P protocol, it is damn easy and the guys in Bangalore can do that if they decide on such a policy. But they are not doing that.

Torrents work on P2P protocol and there should be be seeds willing to share. And then, a torrent is downloaded in pieces. Even if there are seeds there must be a seed that has the piece that you require. Even if you are a willing seed, the tracker decides who are the seeds to a particular connection.

BSNL capping our speeds @night in Pune.

    plan: home 500
between 2AM to 8AM I get max average speed of 170kB/sec in uTorrent.
the torrent I tested had above had "200(10000)" seeds. The speed tries to go above 190kB/sec but is suddenly pushed down. This happens after regular intervals...leading to a "up-down graph" in the speed tab(5sec interval).

when I try the same torrent in morning the speed reaches 230kB/sec directly...like a big jump in the graph.

I thought I was being paranoid...but testing this for a few days, showed same results.

BSNL is robbing me of my bandwidth...almost 1.2GBs per night.
@beginning...i used to easily download 4.2 GB per night.

but the good thing is that...now I know bsnl people are not dumb as people think they are.

I do not think BSNL is doing anything. It is just that too many users are connected and using the same pipe. Remember that the pipe has 1:50 contention ratio.
