    Is there any alternative for switching ON and OFF the modem at 2:00 AM and 8:00 AM respectively.....

    How we wish there was ...

    But we donot need to switch off (power off) the modem; merely reboot it so that previous connection is broken and new one is established.

    just4kix how about that trick of BIOS reboot and things people discuss to restart system and some people also talk about telnet command to reset connection... whats that...
    i m really not aware of this BSNL thing coz i have sify.. and BSNL is not available in delhi so no idea...

    Nethack has also posted a utility to do the same via another method.

    it's very easy to reboot modem using telnet scripts.the only hard part is finding the correct command which varies from modem to modem.however using telnet anyone can find correct command after searching a liitle bit.
