I am using 500C . my using is exceeding more than 70 mbs per 1 hr. some times for just 4-7 minutes my usage is exceeding 40mb. that means for 1 hr. Rs.20-45 or more.Its very high . like this if the internet cafe's owner got the usage billed .He could get the heavy loss.I am a common user ,using this for home .Then why is it happening?

you should disable all the back grond update services, and chek if there is activity when u r not surfing. also run a virus scan with an updated antivirus

How can i do this for different programs?I know for some prgramms ,but not for all.

try a software called tuneup utilities
it will allow u to modify system settings.

I use CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner to cleanup my registry and stop all (unrequired) backgorund services from running. I paid $45 for this software (in 2004) and got a lifetime upgrade license. It is every cent well spent. I highly recommend it.

Every week I clean my registry and every month I backup my registry.

Once I got a trojan on my PC that hijacked my system, task manager, browser, etc. The reason I got it was because I had disabled McAfee to apply a crack. No AV could get rid of it. System would not allow restore also. With the above software, I could restore to my earlier backup of registry and got going again. I swore to myself that I will never use cracks again.

This is what I have been often saying that paying for software pays off in the long run.

What I tried to crack I do not remember - it was 3/4 years ago - it was probably Mainconcept MPEG Encoder. I got the crack from: www [dot] dailykeys [dot] com

Investment in software does not cost as much as everyone thinks. My own investment:

a) Windows XP/Pro - Rs. 6400 - life = 4 years (min)
b) Nero Ultra 7 - $59.99 - life = 2 years (before upgrade, I haven't upgraded in 4 years). It will cost me $50 something to upgrade but I am happy with what I have.
c) Cleanmypc - $45 - lifetime
d) TMPEG Enc Plus - $35 - lifetime
e) DVD Region + CSS Free - $40 - lifetime

The rest I have is all freeware. I am thinking of buying MS-Office 2007 Student Ed for Rs. 4500 or 4800. But I have put it off for the time being. My office kaptop has Office 2007 and home desktop has Open Office.

The total cost of above is Rs. 14320/- or thereabouts.

you are right just4kix about investing in softwares for peace of mind as well as security aspect.i too try to use freeware as much as possible & even when i do use cracks it's only to take a look at software's full functionality to see if it's worth the price.i admit i use XP as well as OFFICE 2007 without buying but i don't exactly use a crack.i use corporate versions & the genuine keys from my institute though i have passed out of the institute a year ago.besides these i use 8 other softwares using cracks & whenever i got settled with a job i will buy the licenses for all of them as i use them often.i am very proficient at using cracks & never got infected by any crack till now.i know various safe sites as well as many ways to know if a crack is safe so no problems with that but i know that buying softwares which you use often is essential to support the developers of those softwares as well as future development & that's why i will be buying the licenses for all often used softwares even if i am currently using cracks for them.

@sb21pro,i got the message but please try to read between the lines----

the only reason i am using cracks is because right now i am preparing for competitions & not doing a job.however as soon as i got a job i will buy licenses for them even though if i want i can continue using these softwares for free.at least i admit my wrongdoing but there are many users out there who are doing jobs & can easily afford to pay for their softwares & still they don't & in my opinion they are the real culprits because they have the capability of paying & they choose not to.there is almost no user here which hasn't used pirated softwares once but still not many will admit that they are doing something wrong & that they should buy if they can.

There are certain sites which offer the software without any cracks, Its almost like using a paid software free of cost. Now, I wont tell you what are sites, you have to find it by yourself. I happily using some of the most expensive softwares.

P.S HINT:Try forums and google it Ofcourse!!!

I am not insisting buying everything at one go - one can easily spread it out. And I can understand that students and freshers cannot afford software and neither can those who are economically stretched.

The trouble is that many of us want a lot of goodies and then of course paying for each is not possible. I also would like big software companies to make software available at cheap prices. For instance, my team works on Oracle. To work on Oracle, a product known as TOAD is essential but its cost is $210 per seat. Some volume discount is available but not more than 25%. Now even my employer cannot afford 10000 licenses of this product.

a very good point just4kix.precisely because of this i try as much as possible to keep no. of cracked softwares i use to a minimum(currently 8 such softwares)& i plan to buy all of them in future after getting job.however same can not be said about majority of users here in India.i have seen people using cracked photoshop to do such tasks which can easily be done using freewares available.

What is meant by a Crack?

crack means a way to bypass/break a software's security to do things you are not supposed to do without buying that software.

i remember the 1st time i used a crack
it was magic.

i wish.. i wanna have all crack softwares.. all all all............ and enjoy.. he he he.. i think somethin if u get for free.. u shud not pay n buy.. atles i think in tht way.. i know its wrong.. but in india i think 85% public does thins only..

LOL. But what will you do with all that software?

jus like ppl have hobbies.. coin collectiions.. same i too....... have a hobbie... software collections.. CRACKED..LOL
