no you can not increase range of netgear router.. but for the best results you need to be within 20 mtrs from router...

why you want to increase range of your netgear... and how much area you want to cover

sorry guys i disagree with you guys, there are solutions to increase the range of NETGEAR router
If you search the net you will find tons of products to increase the range of NETGEAR

you can buy Netgear WGX102 54 Mbps Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender
"
Receive Wireless Internet Access from any Power Outlet in Your HomeAs home networking continues to spread and evolve at rapid speed, some users find that their wireless router does not reach all corners or their home, or that they would like to have their wireless network originate from a point of their choosing, rather than be tethered to the point where the Internet enters their home. The WGX102 54 Mbps Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender from Netgear allows users to have their wireless network originate form the middle of their home, or from the furthest extremity, with no visible cables.The WGX102 can be plugged into any electrical outlet to create an area of wireless access. The XE102 Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge (sold separately) connects to an existing wired or wireless router from any vendor. Plug the WGX102 Wireless Range-Extender into any power outlet to receive wireless access at the desired location that you choose. The wall-plugged form factor allows users a full wireless network without occupying any floor or desk space, or any visible cables. Moreover the sleek platinum casing blends well into any home dcor."

It may be a little costly and i am not sure if it is available in India, but the product is available in the US

i think others meant that you can not increase range without buying additional hardware.

@gardencityboy
bro if you are talking about additional extention devices then we can extend range in kilometers aswell but here aakash asked if he can extend signals of Netgear DG834G router or not... if you check that router config page you can see there are only 2 options for wirless... first option is wireless setting (third from top) which got only wirless setting to config and make a secure connection... second option is WAN Setup which provides you option to change MTU size... so there is no built in option in DG834G router which can extend your wireless coverage area.. so now you need to agree with us..

apart from that i understand it a 54Mbps router and if you go for 108Mbps Netgear RangeMax router then also we dont have any built in option to increase wireless coverage area...
and if we talk about expensive options then we can buy one apple mac 10.5 system aswell which got airport and have built in wireless adapter with a range of 100mtrs (strong signal).

now do you agree bro..

if it was increasing the range with out using any hardware

Do we have any router in the market which allows this?

I know only Linksys WRT54GL gives this but that too with 3rd party firmware which will void the warranty if loaded
