Default Frequent Disconnection - Please Help

Iam using 750 Unlimited plan (BSNL). My broadband connection disconnects every 10-15 min.

Modem type: SmartAX MT-841 (Type III)
    SNR Value: 24 db / 7.5 db
    Attn Value: 26.5 db / 48.5 db

Kindly help me in locating the exact reason for this disconnection.

Have you installed a splitter at the first entry point of the telephone line into your home? There should be no parallel telephone line before the splitter.

I was suffering from the same problem... the only reason for this is that your phone line has noise....the noise is always not audible in the phone but u never kno if its there or not.... so get ur phone line changed right from the nearest pole to the back of ur computer...... there should be no joints i the phone line in between as the joints get corroded with acidic rain (he he i like environmental education lol)..... ur problem will be fixed 100 %. The only thing that u have to see is that when they replace ur phone line...supervise their work..coz id u dnt then they will prolly put a knot in between two wires to make a longer one and then again ur dsl will keep disconnecting....

    All the best.

well in that case the problem must be in the wireing, ask the bsnl guys to check it.

I called the bsnl guys. They changed the wire. But now the Link lamp in the Modem (SmartAX MT-841 ) becomes off for 10-15 sec every 10-15 minutes. I need to wait for 10-15 sec till the Link lamp glows for browing.

Well in this case there is just one possibility left the modem going bad.Better try connecting with another modem .....
If that works then you will be sure that the problem is in the modem ...and if this does not then its with the cabling.

check your SNR & Attn values now.SNR values must be above 10.if values are still not above 10 ask BSNL guys to check your line with another modem & if that modem too reports such low SNR values problem is with the line else modem is not working properly.

this problem of disconnection or instability can happen due to 3 main reasons
    1. Problem with physical line or Internal wiring at customer premisis
    2. SNR
    3. Problem with physical setup of broadband/ incorrect setup of broadband

apart from this there are lot many other things which can affect your broadband connection

upstream SNR value of 6 is very low.it must be above 10.get your line checked by BSNL.

There is no problem in the telephone line. Its clear.
    Iam having no parallel connection.
The BSNL guys also replaced the telephone wire with a new one.

How do i find in which mode (ADSL2+ or G.Dmt) my modem (SmartAX MT 841) is in.
If it is in ADSL2+ mode. How to change from ADSL2+ to G.Dmt mode.
May be i can improve the SNR value by changing to G.Dmt mode from ADSL2+ mode (as per the above post.

ASK YOUR TELEPHONE EXCHANGE TO CHANGE TELEPHONE PAIR. IF YOUR CONNECTION IS WORKING IN MULTIPLAY SYSTEM THEN CHANGE YOUR MODEM SETTING TO gmt MODE. LOGIN in to your modem 192.168.1.1. on left hand side click on advanced tab, adsl option is there. In adsl you can change settings of adsl to gmt mode.(ADSL option is there in BASIC or Advanced pls check it.)

Actually the thread starter too should have some responsibility by posting in his thread and informing whether his problem has been sorted out or not.

Rameshjeee updated it someone else thread.

remove all parallel telephones(which r not after splitter)..

if problem persists........, set ur modem to pppoe mode.

mostly disconnection happens due to parallel line or ur mdm is in bridge mode and Ethernet drivers corrupted.
in second case, reinstall ethernet drivers

if u connect using dialer, ur mdm is in bridge mode.
if u directly connect to internet after switching on mdm, ur mdm is in pppoe mode.

for MT841 mdm, if link color is green, it is in bridge, if orange it is in pppoe

netgear r good, bt disconnection problem can not b solved by switching to netgear
