    Default Slow BSNL speed

    Hi all,
I got my internet connection today. I took basic 500 package which promised speed from 256kbps and upto 2 Mbps. But when i ran the speed test (speedtest.net) i got a speed as follows:

    For mumbai server:

    DL: 681kbps

    UL: 398 kbps

    For Male server:

    DL: 1097 kbps

    UL: 187 kbps

This speed is way too good in comparsion to my earlier ISP. But i remember reading some where that adding few DNS addresses will greately improve my speed. Another reason for also asking DNS addresses is i am having trouble opening some sites.

    Thanks

if you are paying for 512kbps connection and getting this speed then its really good..
    cheers...
you can try open DNS and if some pages are not loading correctly or not loading at all then please post address here, it may be an issue with website or you can check your firewall setting coz in some cases firewall also blocks access to some sites....

    cheers

instead of speedtest results try downloading XP SP3 from microsoft's or softpedia site using a download manager like flashget to see how much speed you actually get.if you get ~180-200KBps then your connection is fine.try this download between 2-8AM free time because speed matters most in this time only.
