    Default ZTE ZXDSL 531B BRADBAND MODEM CONFIGURATION IN RHEL 5.0 for Dataone

    Dear Friends,

    I m new here and I have got ZTE ZXDSL 531B modem. It is working ok with XP /2003 server but I am not able to configure it with Red hat enterprise 5.0 . I need concise step by step help from the forum.I am able to access my modem at 192.168.1.1. further I dodnt knwo how to set parameterin it ..I have contected BSNL people for it and also those who are working as thrird party for it ..but its of no use..as well as in the manual of same modem there nothing specified abt RHEL 5.0 configuration of modem....how to prepare connaction fo it etc...so please I request u to help me out.....thnx in advanced...

    the best way to use modems in Linux is by configuring modem in pppoe mode(in which you get connected by just turning on the modem).after that you just have to configure the LAN TCP/IP properties in Linux by simply setting IP as 192.168.1.x,gateway 192.168.1.1 & DNS as automatic.take a look here to configure in pppoe mode

    try c2110 modem as i think its interface is somewhat similar to your modem.
    Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
