Default Unable to browse/access some websites

I am a BSNL broadband user from Chennai. I am unable to access sites like mcafee.com, zune.net or even microsoft.com. I also noticed that I cannot access most websites in US or from regions outside APAC region.

Change DNS settings in your router to open DNS IP:

    Primary: 208.67.222.222
    Secondary: 208.67.220.220

    This might help.

I am using these DNS servers already. The problem is that I cannot browse the sites. The name is resolved, but the browser gets stuck with this message in the status bar:
    "Waiting for www . microsoft....."
I checked my firewall settings again, but no clue.
Just wanted to know if anyone else is facing similar problems.

Everyday I'm updating my McAfee and Windows and I don't have any issue. Just check your system whether some where it has been blocked.

I restored the defaults on my mcafee firewall and checked the windows firewall too. Checked even the router's packet filter (I use a D-Link ADSL router) and couldn't find anything fishy. Have raised a ticket with the call-center. Let me see how quick they are. (I started using BSNL only 2 weeks ago and this is my first complaint)

    Thanks folks for replying.

far be it for me to resurrect a month old thread, but i'm actually having the same problem i can browse most of the web except for a few sites. i'll try to give out as much information as i can and hope someone here can help me out.

i can't seem to browse to microsoft, youtube, softpedia, to name a few. this list gets longer the as i surf the web and come across new sites. i cannot ping these sites, and a tracert gets timed out halfway. i can get to these sites using a proxyserver, but thats pretty lame. i tried flushdns and found that the dns cache service wasn't even started, so i started the service and tried again, no go

i've tried different MTU values as a last resort to no avail, and also changed over to Open DNS. i use windows XP SP2 on a BSNL BB connection thru a d-link router (GLB502T). other than this, i have no problems with the connection since i can download and upload using torrents at about 175-200 KBps which was what i was promised in the first place.

i need to find a solution to this since windows cannot update ATM, and i really like to get on youtube (watching it using a proxy server sucks). i'm not a n00b13, but i'm no expert either...hoping someone here can lend a helping hand.

P.S.: he,he, BTW, Hi all, was so caught up in this schzzit, forgot i was a newb here lol.

are you using some firewall/anti-adware/anti-spyware/parental control software?check their settings for blocking sites if you are using them.
