hi.all.
i.am.a.defence.officer.posted.at.lonavala.My.unit. is.located.about.10kms.from.lonavala.town.The.sign al.strength.of.all.major.telecom.companies.is.quit e.weak.at.our.location.However.BSNL.and.Idea.are.s omewhat.better.than.the.rest.BSNL.also.provides.br oadband.connection.within.the.unit.but.it.is.quite .unreliable.My.wife.requires.a.reliable.high.speed .internet.connection.to.work.from.home.ARE.THERE.A NY.EXCLUSIVE.INTERNET.PROVIDERS?????
i.dont.mind.investing.20-25k.for.setting.up.a.dish/antennae.to.get.the.desired.results.WHAT.OTHER.OPT IONS.ARE.AVAILABLE.TO.ME.

Your best bet to get a high speed broadband connection would be Bsnl provided you have bsnl land lines in your area.

You can ask others in your area about their internet connection and try getting one of those aswell but if nothing is available:

Another option would be wimax as Reliance and Tata have rolled out thier wimax broadband service now. You dont need any cables for this wimax connection as it is completely wireless and they will put an anteena on your terrace.

If none of the above are available then try and see if bsnl provides EVDO enabled data cards in your area and also check if the local tower is evdo enabled.

If for some reason none of the options work then the only option woul be getting a data card from one of these : Reliance, Airtel, Idea, Vodafone ... Check which one is providing edge service in your area and go for that but in any case this option would be the slowest one.

Do give me a shout if I have left anythin unanswered.

Since you are located in a defence unit it will be very unlikely that you will get broadband thru telephone from private players.

As admin said, BSNL is the best option. Otherwise you can use data cards from Reliance or Tata Indicom. But that requires good signal strength.

I have been getting good service from BSNL in Pune.

That is true as far as I know... My sister works for the Indian air force and every station she has had her posting at doesnt have any broadband service available except bsnl.

Try the Higher End Bissness plans from BSNL. Checkout the tariffs at BSNL website. Good Luck.

Best option is Cable Internate through Cable TV providers...... best option in lonavala.... second option is Relience as they r planning for Tower in Lonavala
