| Bronze Member | Just type in 192.168.1.1 in address bar of ur browser. When it asks for username and password, put admin(In both places) Go to tab of ADSL under advanced Select modulation type as G.DMT For that-> Tick G.DMT and uncheck remaining others. After that save settings to flash memory of router. Restart ur router! Now u can use ur router in G.DMT mode! |

| Bronze Member | Holy ****!!!! After changing mode from ADSL2+ to G.DMT, my downstream SNR value increased from 16 to 21.1. My downstream attenuation decreased from 46 to 40. Thanks Chinmay. Im on UL750. ****, it decreased back to 17.3. Why? Back to 16.9. I dont get it. Whats the difference between ADSL2+ and G.DMT? Do the modes change download speed. Statistics -- ADSL Mode: G.DMT Type: Fast Line Coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link Power State: L0 Downstream Upstream SNR Margin (dB): 17.1 22.0 Attenuation (dB): 40.0 18.0 I changed mode to G.DMT from ADSL2+ as chinmay told. I saved the settings. The router automatically rebooted. I found an improvement of 3-4 in downstream SNR values and a decrease of 5 db in downstream attenuation. When i manually switched off and switched it back on. The mode was ADSL2+ again. Statistics -- ADSL Mode: ADSL2+ Line Coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link Power State: L0 Downstream Upstream SNR Margin (dB): 14.5 23.0 Attenuation (dB): 45.5 22.6 Mode: G.DMT Type: Fast Line Coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link Power State: L0 Downstream Upstream SNR Margin (dB): 16.7 22.0 Attenuation (dB): 40.0 18.0 Last edited by harsham05; 09-01-08 at 07:54 PM. In evening time, many users use broadband services, so SNR value gonna decrease. But dont worry it wont harm ur connection. SNR above 7 is sufficient for a stable connection, what concern me a lot is ur line attenuation, it shouldnt go beyond 30. Do u have any parallel wiring in ur house? How far u stay away from NIB server? Read about SNR here Signal-to-noise ratio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'll post my status I m on ADSL2+ Item Downstream Upstream SNR Margin 17.5db 14.5db Line Attenuation 25.5db 21.0db Loss of Signal 0 0 CRC Errors 0 0 Data Rate 6139 Kbps 519 Kbps Latency Fast Fast Last edited by Chinmay; 09-01-08 at 08:23 PM. | Bronze Member | whats the use of changing modes? is there any advantage of G.DMT over ADSL2+? why does my modem go back to ADSL2+ after changing to G.DMt? What is parallel wiring? I will find out how far I am from my local exchange. |

| Junior Member | well , i see everybody is putting stress to change mode from adsl2+ to Gdmt...can anybody explain what does it means??? we can enable all options at once then what is need of disable or enable a particular mode..if bsnl has given a option to select all,it means that all options will work as per system or load on line...well i dn't know about this all stuff but no body has made clear details of this mode issue..first of all we should know what we r changing and what r its results.. i request senoir members to plzzz tell us in detail about this feature .many members will get help to solve their problems if they r made clear about their problems by experienced members after changing mode plzzz reboot ur modem..or type "telnet 192.168.1.1" in command promt or in run and fill ur username n password.after that type reboot ..thats it...now see it works or not Last edited by ravikang; 11-13-08 at 08:40 PM. Rep Power: 6 | I don't know what's special with Gdmt mode. My connection is much faster in ADSL2+ mode. |

G.lite Officially known as G.992.2, it is now a standard way to install Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line service. G.lite makes it possible to have Internet connections to home and business computers at up to 1.5 Mbps over regular phone lines. G.dmt This refers to the ADSL standard approved by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). G.dmt indicates full rate ADSL which provides standards for higher speed ADLS than G.lite. G.dmt provides maximum data rates of 8 Mbps downstream to the subscriber and 1.5 Mbps upstream from the subscriber.

Rep Power: 6 | OK! That explains why everyone recommends it. But my connection speed didn't change after setting to G.dmt mode and I had to change back to ADSL2+ because it caused some kind of problem in connection. My snr didn't increase either. |

ADSL2+ has only been available since it was approved for use in September 2005. ADSL2+ means you can now get even higher speeds than ever before. ADSL2+ (G.992.5), more than doubles the downstream data rate (bandwidth) of ADSL to as much as 25M bit/sec. (25 Mbps) ADSL2 Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line 2(just incase when adsl2+ is down) now here is G.dmt This refers to the ADSL standard approved by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). G.dmt indicates full rate ADSL which provides standards for higher speed ADLS than G.lite. G.dmt provides maximum data rates of 8 Mbps downstream to the subscriber and 1.5 Mbps upstream from the subscriber.

Rep Power: 6 | Check this link Which mode is ur modem in : ADSL2+ or G.Dmt?. if you haven't already. I don't think changing to G.dmt is any good until BSNL decides to give us at least a 4 Mb connection. Just stick with ADSL2+. |
