    Unhappy Speed not constant

Hi friends I joined this forum just recently and i am really impressed by the questions and answers.

Mine is 750UL plan for which the speed must be ideally 256 kbps but when i am downloading files the rate is oscillating from 5KB/s to 25KB/s increasing and decreasing but never constant, please help me out.

Also I cannot check my account usage,is there no such provision for 750UL plan users?,please help me as I am unable to login to see my account usage.

Speed depends upon lot of things. Using software such as DAP or IDM you can get optimum speed. For torrents, port must be forwarded and you must have plenty of seeds.

In the UL750 plan you will get the max speed of 256 kbps or 32 KB/s but I suppose you know that.

    Thumbs down

But i am already using IDM5.14,disabled microsoft update, virus update and even the qos packet sheduler, but my question is if download speed varies from 5KB/s to 6KB/s .. ....... . .26KB/s and then falls again to 24KB/s to ....to 5KB/s in gradual steps ,just like a sine wave is suppose, the the average speed would be around 15KB/s.I have checked all vital parameters like line attn and SNR,they are fine.
Now someone tell me with such download speed fluctuations(huge transitions),is BSNL 750UL plan worthy. Is there a way that i can complain this to bsnl?
In view of all these bsnl sucks!

I had UL750+ plan earlier (it was UL900+ then). I used to get average speeds of 26-28 KB/s in torrents, sometimes the peak too 32-33 KB/s. I have now switched to Home 500 C. Last month I used to get constant disconnections to the point that I was thinking of surrendering my internet connection. After numerous complaints, they fixed my line. Now I get speeds of 200+ KB/s in torrents.

So there must be something local to your area/home/wiring. That is all I can say.

Yes I have used TCP optimizer also i installed TCP/IP.sys patch. But the speed is as i can clearly see it dropping and rising like a wave but that's not my only worry,i am unable to log in with my username and password.
Ironically my mother works in bsnl! and these folks are playing games with me,when i phone them the net admin says cable might be fault, when i book cable fault, they verify it(may be who knows!) and say ,might be problem at exchange!.And this is a sort of cyclic process.Damnation!

    I have 750 UL + plan.
I use Azureus (Vuze now) for downloading movies (torrent). The average download speed around 20-25 Kbs.
What is this "Port must be forwarded" (as said by Just4kix).
Do i need to change any settings (Port must be forwarded) in Azureus in order to increase the speed?
