Default Using ethernet and USB on UT300R2U modem

    Hi,

I have been using the USB port to connect my laptop. Once I start the laptop I run the bsnl dataone dialer to get access to the Internet.

I now have a desktop that I want to connect to the ethernet port on the modem. The desktop gets the IP address from the modem using DHCP. However i cannot seem to access the Internet.

Is there a way to make the UT300R2U modem to do the pppoe dialing so that I dont have to install the dialer software on each system I want to connect to Internet? Any insights into how to get it working or pointers to other posts where this issue has been discussed will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    Ravi.

To use internet on simultaneous machines you have to configure your modem to PPPoE mode so that modem can dial your username and password and give multiple IP addresses to different machines.
It doesnt depends on the interface through which you are connecting whether it is USB or wi-fi, for the USB part you have to install the BSNL soft. to get it working rest is same

To configure your modem to PPPoE mode just follow some guides which are already posted here by just4kix

    hi there

you can check basic pppoe guide here for same issue
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...-settings.html (PPPoe settings)

and if you want to connect both computers now (laptop and desktop) you can upgrade to a router now... coz router can provide you good connection on both systems.

i got one more link for you here from bsnl you can check this one too.. hope it may help you

I seem to have a different firmware version. The screens when I connect to the modem are different from what I see in Just4Kix Doc on Multiple connections primer for UT300R2U. My modem does not provide an option to setup pppoe for Internet. Is there a fail safe way of upgrading the firmware?
    thanks,
    Ravi.
