You neet to reboot your modem and restart it to avail free downloads and not at 2AM because BSNL server time is normally messed up so to be on the safe side make it something like 02:15 and then log off again 15 mins prior to when your free time finishes.

Hibernating PC wont disconnect you from Bsnl servers and you will end up paying for whatever you download just coz you didint reboot your modem.

I dont understand Reboot modem ??
I mean if we leave the modem on till 2AM disconnected and then use dial up service to get connected afte 2AM it does work right ? Please clarify. I do it every day and have seen the portal time from 2:07:00 AM and till 7:58 AM and total download + upload is 0 (ZERO)

Reboot = restart For those who have set up their modem in always on mode and the modem dials the connection on its own and in that case you woul need to turn the power off and then on again to establish a new connection when the free time starts.

If you disconnect and connect again then you are doing the right thing.

rebooting can be done easily. There's a small power switch behind the modem which should be pressed

Hi well if you are looking for automating your system then ..instead of hibernating ,put your machine in stand by mode so that the system gets shut down atleast incase of connetions. So you will get disconnected from the network and then when your system wakes at say 2AM run script to reconnect.
Also one suggestion make it at 2.15 AM and 7.45AM because non of our clocks are perfect so we cant get the exact time when the BSNL server will record your login.

I always used Hibernate Mode(Vista) and kept the modem on, throughout the night and scheduled the Laptop to Log on at 2.15am, and start torrents automatically. It was odd to know that, when the Laptop was in sleep mode, it consumed Bandwidth at night, Don't worry, it was only around 500Kb, Well atleast for me.

Actually keeping the modem on does not make any difference ...what matters is whether your loggen in the BSNL network or not ....i mean let the power be on for the modem but dont stay connected if you dont require.
You can always run scripts after you log on into your system for connection to BSNL.
I hope you got my point.
