    Default Problem with BSNL Connecting

    Hi,

    I am with 500 + plan

whenever i try to connect(dialling mode) it takes a long time to connect and for the first couple of time its either gives the errors message as remote computer not responding or else verify password,

i am having this trouble only from today, my earlier isp (sify) came and wanted to check afte that i am having this trouble i saw him chaging this link speed / duplex mode for me its now set at 10 half mode, what should that be set at?

    network address = not present
    received buffer size 64 bytes

shall i try uninstalling the drive? or could it be someother problem,????//

i would be thankful if you can help me out

it should not affect that much but if you suspect that the new changes are not working then re-install the LAN driver.

i hope you connect in pppoe mode

    1)TURN ON YOUR MODEM
2)WAIT FOR THE LINK LED OF YOUR MODEM TO BECOME STABLE
    3)THEN DIAL A CONNECTION.

    That should solve your problem.

    Hi ,
If you are getting the error code as 678 then my friend there is nothing that you can do.Its better you report this problem to the BSNL employees so that if possible they can correct the port allocation system or demand them for assigning a different port.
This error occurs because BSNL must have given more connection in your area than the capacity of the server in your area. This info was passed on to me by a BSNL employee saying that we have given connections in excess but we will soon be installing more hardware to cope up with the connections served.
Well also as suggested in the previous post that we can get rid of this by switching off the modem and then switching it on after some time this does work to some extent because it completely wipes off your request to connect to the server from the cache of the server for pending requests. And then the next time when u plug it on once again it takes you in the new queue and the probability of getting connected increases.

Well, Even I use my modem in Bridge mode, I face this problems sometimes. It generally re-connects in 5 minutes, nothing more than that.

You can try switching to PPPoE mode and then see if it helps you

my connection gets unstable at times too.
it usually reconnects when i restart the system.
i have tried repoting this to the customer care service several times, but no action was taken.

    Hi guys,
Well there can be one more reason behind this .....
Check your cabling which is done to get the wire till your modem.
Its a requirement that the line that comes from BSNL must have exactly one splitter before it goes to any of the device.
Make sure that you dont have more than one splitters in the way.
This too results in disconnection and reconnection problems.
