if you are using modem in bridge mode(in which you dial the connection from windows using your bsnl username/password)then see here---
Quote:
for connect/disconnect use batch files.
paste these lines in notepad & save files as connect.bat & disconnect.bat

for disconnect.bat---
rasdial "bsnl" /disconnect
for connect
rasdial "bsnl" ******_***@bsnl.in password
where bsnl is the name of my connection(it depends on what name you give to your connection)
******_***@bsnl.in is my username
password is my password

use windows task scheduler to schedule these .bat files to run at 1:55AM(disconnect) & 2:05AM(connect) then again run disconnect.bat at 7:55AM.
remember to save files as .bat as notepad saves files as .txt by default.when saving files select the file type as all files & then save the file as .bat.bat files are like .exe files & when you double click on them they execute like exe files.you can check your files by double clicking on connect.bat & disconnect.bat to see if they are working.

Also one more thing. You can put your machine in hibernate or sleep mode and then when you create and schedule the above scripts that time in choose the properties of the set task and then go to settings tab at the bottom choose
Wake the computer to run this task.

This will free you from even keeping the machine on for long unnecessarily.
NOTE: done shutdown your machine you wil have to put it to Hibernate or Sleep.

If you want to put your machine to SHUT DOWN then your machine will require an automatic START option in BIOS settings. It can be done only if this exists.Generally Dell Laptops have this option.

Otherwisw connect your modem to PC via Bridge mode. When the PC starts from the hibernate mode, Try to start FireFox, BitTorrent or some software needing Internet connection. It will connect auto-matically, then schedule PC to stop before 8am. Happy Browsing.

Hi well actually you will have to try out few things here ....
the UserName can be with or without : @bsnl.in
Secondly the "bsnl" : is the name of the connection icon that you must have created. as u said .....BSNL BB in your case.
Format :

rasdial "BSNL" abc ****

It should be in the above format.Where
"BSNL" :is the icon name or the connection name that you must have given while you must have created a dialer. Its the dialer icon name.
abc : is the account name it may have or many not have @bsnl.in.
**** : Password

Also make sure that the Connect.Bat file is in the same place where your Dialer Shortcut is there.Better to have both on the desktop.
