Rep Power: 0 | Hi All, I recently got a netgear wgr614v4 router from US. The adapter spec says Input - 120V AC Output - 12V DC , 800 mA . However, The adapter requires a converter (pin not compatible) with electrical plug point .So,I decided to use a spare adapter which I had - Input - 220V AC Output - 12V DC, 500 mA The power LED is showing AMBER all the time . From the ref manual, I got to know the Power LED should blink green for around 10 sec aand go off when switch is turned on.Is that right ? Am i using an incorrect adapter ? Also, I am not able to access router page too. Suggestions ?? |

An excess surge may damage your unit. Well the power led does not blink ,the one next to it blinks for some time until the router configures itself after you power it ON.The one with a TICK MARK. Well of course the Wi-Fi light keeps blinking. And the power light never gets AMBER it stays GREEN. its the 4th light from the power light which gets an AMBER color when u are about to connect. I mean the light which is next to the 1 noted light. I hope u got the positions which i meant Regards, Shriniket Sarkar Last edited by shriniketsarkar; 06-09-2008 at 12:32 PM. Rep Power: 0 | I would advise you to use stepdown voltage transformer from 240v to 120v for the original adapter of your aquired Router. It will solve your problem. The present alternative you have used is undercapacity. You can try the adapter of 240v AC to out put 12V DC 800mA" capacity for the router. |

Rep Power: 2 | Advice by @seemat is right. The original adaptor is a Switching adaptor. ( MIne 120V ac input output 12V 1amp) Either buy a step own transformer220/110V( cost around Rs 200/=) or buy 220V pri/secondary 12V DC at 1 Amp with regulator incorporated ( usually 7812 center pin positive very important consideration. ) |

| Pingu Mod | I agree with seemat and essbebe and please mind that power light should always be green for router to work on, power light goes flashing amber only when we reset router and that is too for 10 seconds thats it.
