    Question UnIdentifed Network

    Hi

I am having a problem getting the Laptop wireless connected through DataOne.
I am having Windows Vista Basic as the OS. I am able to get connected through the LAN Cable. However when I try through the wireless it shows as connected but also gives the message as UnIdentified Network. I am using a WA3002-g1 modem.

I am having no problems with a Laptop which has Windows XP.

Tried calling the BSNL Broadband helpline with this issue and was told that they will call me back, but so far no help.

    Appreciate if anyone can help.

    Regards
    Nayan Kamat

Did you configure the wireless part of the router properly?

Superprash2003, welcome back after a long absense.

p/s. You can edit your own title now. And a lot of things have happened in the last two weeks. We also have stats (http://www.indiabroadband.net/misc.php?do=cybstats). The link is just below the user name.

After all vista is a lot confusing.....Ghumte reh jao ge ...ha ha ha
You definitely have not configured the network settings on your Vista.
Do that and then it will work.If still problems let us all know.

Start/run/ type cmd type ip config/all
in both computers ( Having Xp and Vista ) compare.
One suggestion is to disable IPV6 in Vista TCP/IP properties.

there is nothing to worry about this
you just need to go to network and sharing center after this you can click on your network.. where it will provide you 2 options home or work..
you just need to click on network your own choice and thats it.. after that it will not give you that message again

    check it and update please

    Default BSNL Broadband - Wireless

Thanks All for giving possible solutions.

The problem got rectified after I reconfigured the network by giving a different SID which was advised by the BSNL helpdesk.

Though BSNL did not call back as promised, they helped resolve the issue when I persistantly called them.

    Regards
    Nayan
