    Default Static IP for Hosting

I have a BSNL Broadband connection 2MB/9000 package(Business tariff). Now there is a requirement for us to use VPN and webhosting services. When Contacted BSNL I was told that One Static IP is provided for the package. I checked for Static IP and it is showing 59.93.xxx.xx. Now How can I configure this in the PC where I am going to use IIS. Please suggest.

You must give this address to the router. And your web server must be in DMZ so that people can access your web site.

But be carefull of hacking attacks.
    • Keep server secure with strong passwords.
    • Have AV, anti-phishing and anti-hack software installed.
    • Keep regular backups.

If you fiddle around a little you will see there is an option to enter a static ip some where ... just use that ip address and you are done.

Have a look at some of the (sticky) posts in the "Broadband How To" section. This will clear some understanding how broadband works and help you understand the concepts.

Then you can configure the modem. Here is the modem configuration page: SmartAX MT-882 ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION.

Finally, you must install the web server on one of your machines and put in the DMZ. This is also done in the modem setup. It will be under the 'advanced' options. Check out the Torrents and Port Fowarding Guide for this.
