Question New connection initial charges from BSNL

    Hi friends,
I am dealing with a BSNL sales guy in Gurgaon. The plan I am interested is Home 500 C. BSNL person is telling me about following initial charges which seems inappropriate to me:

    Rs.281 : Installation charges
    Rs.500 : Security for Type-IV WIFI modem
Rs.500 : Security for BSNL telephone set
Rs.500 : Extra monthly rent (to be adjusted in future in the form of last month's rent when BSNL connection would be discontinued)

I am not interested in Telephone set even if there are free calls (I may get an old set from anywhere else, if I want to.) Should I pay all these charges?

when i took the connection i simply paid rs 1800 and bought the modem on outright purchase and it is wise to buy the modem instead of paying monthly charges

and yes rs 500 for extra monthly rent is indeed wierd i never heard of that neither i paid it

Yes, They asked me to pay, extra months fee, rather, for the previous month from the date of connection.

"Extra monthly rent" look a bit wierd...
Here in chennai...two of my friends bought the same 500C connection....The paid the Installation charges, security deposit & the modem cost....apart from that they dint pay any other fees..

May be you consult with some of your friends in your area who have the same plan or any other plan pf BSNL for the "Extra monthly rent".

    • You cannot just have BB and no telephone.
    • You have to pay for a telephone handset. That is the rule by BSNL. This is madness but that is how BSNL operates.
    • Rs. 500 for Type IV modem deposit is correct.
    • Rs. 500 for extra rent. This Rs. 500 is the deposit for BB plan and not extra rent.

    All charges are OK.

    Hi just4kix,
I was in a doubt because I took a connection in my home in UP by only paying 500 as initial charges for Home500C+ plan. Thanks for the useful information.

There is no Security for BSNL telephone, It could be a deposit of Rs. 500/- if you have opted for STD; for ISD, the deposit is Rs. 2000/-

Refer their Landline Service Tariff Card.
