Rep Power: 2 | Thank you.One more doubt. Is it necessary ,a landline connection,to apply for EVDO? We don't need a landline connection. relieved!! Last edited by peanutpepper popcorn; 09-15-08 at 11:46 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Rep Power: 10 | It says "BSNL data card is based on the CDMA network". Do all the other data cards like Reliance,Airtel or Tata Indicom work on the same principle. Do the data cards work through the mobile towers |

Rep Power: 12 | Yes this evdo data card works with the bsnl's towers... not all towers are evdo enabled thats why evdo is only available in select areas. |

Rep Power: 10 | Thanks Admin.... The speed is different in different area in chennai... Chennai Telephones-Provision of Data Services on CDMA 2000 IX using NIC / EVDO cards- BTS Locations In my area its only 144 Kbps If it was around 2.4 Mbps...i would have gone for it... I would have got rid of all those wires....no low SNR value problems.... |

Rep Power: 12 | I think he meant 144kbps and not 144kBps. If we get 144kBps unlimited at less then Rs1000 a month it would be great |

Rep Power: 10 | I meant 144Kbps speed. They (BSNL) are saying "upto 144Kbps speed". which means it will be less than 144Kbps. & anyhthing less than 144Kbps speed & paying around 500 is not worth. Datacard might be useful for those who travel very frequently. |

In lay man terms Datacard/EVDO will catch signal anywhere the operator's signal for its mobile services are available... For example, If I'm travelling in a train with my Reliance handset and datacard... My datacard's signal n performance will be as good as my handset... i.e., normally good near a railway station but bad or no signal in remote areas... Hope I answered ur query well... | |

Rep Power: 6 | I have used BSNL GPRS and the speed I got was 1-2 KB max. Even when I had full signal strength. |
