Now the present cost of BSNL EVDO is rs 3500/- and p/m is 550+200 + taxes and bill will come to your home and yes it is unlimited with maximum speed of 2.4 Mbps
Dont know about billing much
Thank you.One more doubt. Is it necessary ,a landline connection,to apply for EVDO?
We don't need a landline connection. relieved!!

ummm i am not sure about this but i think it is not necessary as it is just a USB modem just like reliance is giving internet through USB
May be this will help you:

Now only iam hearing of this BSNL EVDO Card. What is it?
Will it replace the modem...is it wireless...
Check this Link: BSNL Data Card - High Speed Internet - Anywhere
It says "BSNL data card is based on the CDMA network".
Do all the other data cards like Reliance,Airtel or Tata Indicom work on the same principle.
Do the data cards work through the mobile towers![]()
Yes this evdo data card works with the bsnl's towers... not all towers are evdo enabled thats why evdo is only available in select areas.
Thanks Admin....
The speed is different in different area in chennai... Chennai Telephones-Provision of Data Services on CDMA 2000 IX using NIC / EVDO cards- BTS Locations
In my area its only 144 Kbps
If it was around 2.4 Mbps...i would have gone for it...
I would have got rid of all those wires....no low SNR value problems....

I think he meant 144kbps and not 144kBps.
If we get 144kBps unlimited at less then Rs1000 a month it would be great![]()
I meant 144Kbps speed.
They (BSNL) are saying "upto 144Kbps speed".
which means it will be less than 144Kbps.
& anyhthing less than 144Kbps speed & paying around 500 is not worth.
Datacard might be useful for those who travel very frequently.
Ok...lol... I misinterpretedcuz majority on this forum writes KBps as kbps only.. Thanx for the correction.. btw Admin, hv u seen my post 13 steps I take to maintain my computer? did u like it?
Yes, I got it now... Sorry for misinterpretation
Hey man...do u know the speed of BSNL datacard in Vellore? My cousin is using Reliance there... But the speed is pathetic... For browsing too..

can anyone help with a comparison of speeds via data card, gprs, broadband throlandline Vs evdo.
In laptop,Which is speedy? can we use datacard/EVDO in travel? will there be coverage?
- GPRS gives u a bullshit speed... 1-10 kBps...comparable to ancient dial-up..
- Data-Card or evdo will give ya speed anywhr in between 10-20 kBps so good for browsing...
- Broadband through landline will give you high speeds ranging from ~16 to 200kBps(its getting higher day by day) depending upon the plan you choose.. Its good for downloading large files.
In lay man terms Datacard/EVDO will catch signal anywhere the operator's signal for its mobile services are available... For example, If I'm travelling in a train with my Reliance handset and datacard... My datacard's signal n performance will be as good as my handset... i.e., normally good near a railway station but bad or no signal in remote areas...
Hope I answered ur query well...
I have used BSNL GPRS and the speed I got was 1-2 KB max. Even when I had full signal strength.
