    Default Attention,,BSNL Broad band applicants!!!!

    Dear Friends

BSNL eventhough receive ur application and money for broad band connection really finding it difficult to supply the modem(in case or out right purchase) especially the type 2 modem in many parts of the country..so its is highly recommended not to pay money for modem, instead just purchase the same from outside market,,thus u can avoid waiting so long,,

Pls make the newcomers be informed ...

Yes, that's true, many of my freinds had to wait for months for the modem, which IMO is the most crappiest modem, I have ever seen.

I got the Type IV modem on the day BSNL has activated BB. Further, they haven't asked for any money. I got the modem security charge in my monthly bill.

    Default purchase of Modem

yes it helps a lot ,if you purchase the modem. They give instant connection.
Otherwise don't be in a hurry, apply sufficiently in advance. May be the first lucky in the list got the modem at once.... but the usual practice in this side is, 'U got modem we give connection'

It is said that they got plenty of Modems, but the supply is in limited numbers.

Some probe is required to find out what is fishy...

As thread is discussing on modems..let me know which modem is the best for outright purchace ?
Does speed depend on modem type ?

I dont think speed has got anything to do with the brand of your modem as long as it is compatible with the technology its all good.

The modem shortage report is not a India wide problem - it is localised. In Pune, my friend jatinws got the connection in 3 days flat.

The problem is really localized,,,but it occurs sporadically at any circles,,when contacted with BSNL officials,,,their version is the "the supply chain is so inefficient, which hardly meet the requirement."

Guys who's paying money at the time of Filing Application ?
BSNL has an option of charging in the bill directly.
I, in Ahmedabad, paid no cash at the time of applying. Got connected in 6 days and the first bill charged me the amount....

Infact...BSNL need better managers,,,or management experiment just like that of Indian Railways,,Speaking to employees of BSNL its clear that,,most of them are unsatisfied with the merger of IT or BB to telecom.,..They say,,this desperate attitude is one of the reasons for bad performance of the whole...much advertised Broad Band...Lets Hope,,,,a magician like Lalu will emerge soon ::clown:

BSNL never asks for money upfront while applying. After they give connection, the next bill will contain all the charges.

This is the case with existing customers...but those who are applying for land line and BB together are the subject here...

It is just a local problem

Usually the problem is just within an area

It is not an all India wide problem

Stocks in some area may be low

    You are correct....
And one more thing.....I dont think you apply for Landline & Broadband together...First you need to apply for Landline & then you need to appply for BB...This is the case in chennai....Note sure abt the rest of india.

    Default Hi

BSNL will not change even with lot of competition

BSNL people are taking minimum of 10days to repair even phone or broad band connection. Even if it is not working, we have to pay the monthly bill. This month it didn't worked for 20 days for me.

    Default Delay in connection

It takes more than 4 months to get connection. In some exchanges it is full, so they don't want to provide connection

Looks like it is an issue in Hyderabad also, but the team here was nice enough to let us know about the possible delay.

If your phone is not working for long period and you have lodge a complaint in written with exchange, you don't have to pay the rental.

    * Rebate in rental is provided suo-moto to subscribers when the services are interrupted over a prolonged period due to departmental reasons.
    * Proportionate rental rebate will be given when the service is interrupted for a period ranging from 7 days to 14 days.
    * 30 days rental rebate will be given to subscribers when the service is interrupted for more than 15 days but less than 30 days.
    * Pro-rata rental rebate will be given when the service is interrupted for more than one month.
    * In all these rebate cases there will be corresponding reduction in the number of free calls allowed.
    * If rental rebate is not given automatically, the subscriber can represent to the Divisional Engineer (Internal) of his telephone exchange.

Please visit Welcome to Bangalore Telecom District website

I think above rule is general and not specific to Land line or broadband.
