is port forwarding is working correctly(you are seeing a green tick in bottom bar of uTorrent)?have you enabled the encryption fior outgoing connection option in uTorrent settings?

I have forwarded the port. I use huawei MT882. Should the encryption for outgoing connection be enabled? and what about incoming connection ?

BTW, I use deluge torrent client

    of course "upto 2mbps" connection...
i know i shouldnt expect anything beyond 256kbps wid dat...and i get 210 or more at daytime...
torrent at daytime wid decently seeded torrents get anywhere between 180 and 210 at all times..lik say now..

but i keep D SAME TORRENTS USING THE SAME SOFTWARE(UTORRENT) for downloading at 2 and wake up at say 6,it shows 50-60 kbps and total download of 1.1gb...every day for many days now...

thot if its some problem wid utorrent..so,thot il check downloadng wid rapidshare or jux normal downloads...

    bloody thing gave me 20kbps!!!

same file from same site using same settings in d same computer gives me 200kbps in d afternoon!!

weird....juz bloody frustrated coz it simply has no logic..

d factor of heavy traffic at nite can b argued..but d fact is until last month i used to get fine speed and even 300kbps download wid rapidshare premium account and 200 kbps wid torrent at nite...and dat was wen my system had torrent 1.7 and a zillion viruses which kept popping up whenever they pleased..
maybe the viruses were making things faster for me??!!
now i reformatted d xp os...installed 1.8 utorrent...bugged my local bsnl engineer until he gave me fresh line from the telephone post to the computer direct...and kaboom!

somebody help me out here..at my wit's end....its as if d computer has got hormonal problems or something....

    hey guys..

    i faced it too

and then i realised one thing.. torrents are slow because of the quality of them.
its another thing if your browsing is also slow.. check your line

but if torrents are slow.. its because of the quality.. public torrents can be agonisingly slow

ive seen it.. it doesn matter what the number of seeds are

i was downloadin one torrent nd it was stuck in 30-40 speeds.. but i added another one with fewer seeds.. and the speed for that alone shot up to 190..

if i had the screenshot to prove it.. i wud paste it..

but jus experiment a little.. dun use the same formula again and again..

use limewire, torrents, rapidshare, dl accecelerators..

find out if its jus a problem with torrents.. then ul know where the problem lies

    Kash

plz explain d meaning of good quality torrents...im quite a novice in dat field...dont know how to choose good trackers and all..plz help out..which is a good site....and how to set up fresh trackers...dats not d problem im facing but still....

meanwhile, anyone got any other advice on d braking of broadband at nite??

If there are a lot of users connected to BSNL and downloading heavily in your area/your exchange, then the speed will drop because the main gateway is shared and there is a contention ratio.

I think you have out of these problems :

1.check you parameter in your nearest bsnl exchange.Due to which the speed decrease. This depends upon your line.

2.That port forewarding issue is correct.Check that one also.

3.Set the total upload speed to 8 kbps in your torrent cilent. This will give you maximum speed at nite.If you want to uplaod and download at a time then that depends upon the tracker you use.For better download decrease you upload speed but the minimum is 8 kbps not less than that. That will limit your downlaod speed.

And this is upto 2mbps connection. If at night all will dowload at a time in your locality then automaticaly your speed will decrease. This also depends upon the distace of your connection from your exchange.

So check it out and tell me if you get any problem.
    Thanks

thanx a lot for all d advices..but stil not seeing light..

a lot of my friend in our city(calicut, kerala) complain of d same problem..not in my xchange area...if d wait for d connection can b taken as an indicator of demand for broadband in d locality ,der is very little chance of der being too many users coz i got my connection within a week...a

nd d distance to the xchange is highly towards my advantage coz its not more than four houses away from mine!....and yet u wont believe d kind of trouble i had wid my line...

it used to get cut atleast 20 times in a span of ten minutes!!i cried and cried and finally they gave me a direct line to my computer from the telefone post which solved dat problem!....

actually d engineers der r very cooperative...dey call every now and then to ask if ders any problem now and how can i complain about a problem dat comes up only wen everyone's asleep??!!d guy comes in d morning to check and it runs lik a stallion!...

port forwarding is all fine i guess coz i have bridged my connection and i get dat tick mark in green at d bottom of my window...

and about putting d upload at 8kbs..well,in utorrent1.8 i had done dat but for a few days i used to get up and get a shock wen i see a higher amount of upload dan download..d rate was self adjusting somehow...dunno how it happens...so i put it at a higher amount and dat stopped it...

again danx alot for all d input and plz continue d support...i juz need to know!!

encryption for outgoing connection should be enabled but not for incoming connection.use evilID patch to increase max no. of open TCP/IP connections from 10(XP/VISTA default) to at least ~800-900 & after that increase this setting in uTorrent preferences too.see a detailed post by member @just4kix in broadband how to section(http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...ing-guide.html)

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Also change the maximum connections per torrent from utorrent settings.

    Smile Bsnl is tricking us

They have a large customer base & In pricing they are the best & they are sure we wont leave so i think they are blocking speeds @ night.....................

if that is true then this should apply for all users but as far as i know majority of users get good speeds from 2-8AM.most probably this problem is either due to too many users downloading at same time(which will result in slow speeds anywhere in the world for any ISP using ADSL)or because of congestion in local BSNL network due to no upgrade of the system according to increased number of users or they are upgrading the network.

    Look at it this way...

The connections slows down.. if the number of people accessing the server increases.

BSNL offers free downloads only at night (2-8)..

No of people accessing the server increase.. speed goes down..
A lot of people who download at night are heavy downloaders..

Its an explaination that is perhaps a bit too simple.. but maybe we should consider it before we pointing fingers @ bsnl telling that they block speeds at night..

Now here's my Q.. Does it matter who accesses the server first??.. im not sure how it works.. but i know that a server will have Max no of connections limit... so probably whoever access it first will get better speeds.. ive seen it happen with LAN systems in my office.. Though all people are accessing the same shared drive.. PPl who join late dont get access..

Sorry to sya but I dont have any further solution to this.I think you shoul wait for the BSNL service. That can solve your problem.

Anyone who believes that speeds or torrents are throttled in BSNL are wrong. Here is a proof.

The downloading speed also depends on the availability of seeds

I wonder when will we get 8mbps speed for Home plan users, also if it happens, the upload/download limit should go up.

8mbps for home users will still take at least a year or more in my opinion & srilanka doesn't have 3gbps connection or even 2mbps connections for home users.
