Where was this announced? Where is the press release? I am not sure that this news is correct.

HOPE THESE WEB SITES Are official web site/s of BSNL Calcutta.( Now kolkatta)

Any other information , suspecting these as "Hacked " web sites,
I have no way to confirm ! The link given earlier by me, was also from this forum or some other forum , i think , posted by somebody else.

i have been hearing abt this on a lot of tech forums but yet have not seen any ads or newspaper announcement... A visit by my friend to the local exchange prove futile as they had their best answer We Do Not Know.. also their tarrif page Calcutta Telephones[/url] still shows charges as 750.... .. well only way to find out is when i will get my bill lol.

Also wondering if the 750 plan will now have 512 kBps UL as opposed to 256 ...

    offtopic
This reminds me of a user in a private torrent site who is probably from U.S. commenting that since he lives in a small town he had to suffer slow d/l speeds and last week some company announced a new high speed BB offer and he is very happy as he will get that ..
Out of curiosity i asked him his current speed

    His reply
    Just 15Mbitline

I wondered if i tell him my BSNL 750 plan speed he might fall of his chair/have a heart attack etc etc

Guess that kinda suits our economy.

For one, I know that if some ISP were to indeed offer that speed in unlimited plan, most of us would be buying a terabyte HDD every week !

    Hi all,
I had some similar issues. Rather than going on a long rant and destroying whole pages I have documented them on my blog and titled the entry BSNL

No really. You need to find the correct pulse of the person. Those guys are underpaid and the crappy/faulty network does not make their task any easier.

All you have to do is empathise with them and cajole them a bit.

    Default Router Story

    Hi
here is my story of BSNL.
I had BSNL connection from last few years and i am very happy with the service when compared to other ISP's.
I was having Type-I modem and wanted to shift to Type-II mode which has got Wi-Fi. So i went to BSNL Exchange(my placeombivli) and contacted SDE and he was very kind and told me to write an application and submit it.

Now , i knew it will take time so out of curiosity i asked him if i can get it on the spot or will it take 1-2 weeks. He told me to 1st write the application, get it signed from him and return the entire old modem kit and submit it to Store department.

I went home(its just 2 min away from BSNL exchange) and wrote the application, did signature of my mom :P and went back to SDE. get it signed from him and headed to store. i had to wait there for 1 hr , because his shift time was 11 AM and yes..he came @ 11 Am and i gave him back the old kit and a copy of recent bill.

And then he gave me a brand new box pack new model of type II. So here @ my local exchange guys are very young and they know how thing works. Even my internet is 99.999% UP without any issues. Recently we had Navratri festival in our area and they had put mandals and since then i used to get frequent DC. i compalined to local exchange(No. 198) and in next 2 hours my problem was solved. after 2 hrs i got call from Exchange to confirm if the problem was solved or not.

So to cut this long story short, i think BSNL is best and i wont switch to any other ISP. I am using UL 750+ plan.

I hope BSNL bring 1 mbps UL with out FUP and live up to expectations of all the users/
