Rep Power: 2 | Hi ppl, I stay in NOIDA and am planning to get a BSNL connection. I am with Airtel right now on their 256kbps plan, and get steady speeds of ~32KBps with absolutely zero downtime. I want to know from ppl who stay in NOIDA a) How is the BSNL service? Am planning to take Home500 connection as all downloads can be managed at night. What speeds are available at nights for decently-to-well seeded torrents. I use mostly private torrents so the seed-quality is not an issue here. Would I be able to get close to 256KBps (2000Mbps) as BSNL advertises? b) WHat is the usual down time of internet, and the turn around time for complaints? Is the BSNL customer-service in NOIDA any good? |

| Platinum Member | The advantage of BSNL is their Combo plans (Home 500 C and Home 500 C+) which give unlimited usage during the night. At Rs. 500/- and Rs. 600/- with free landline and some free voice calls (175 and 50 respectively). Plus most of the toll free numbers work with BSNL/MTNL lines only. BSNL voice plan is also the cheapest in the country. The downside is BSNL CC is not very good. You will get 1.8~1.9 mbps speed with the above Home Combo plans. I have managed to get around 200 KB/s as can be seen in the picture attached.

Rep Power: 2 | Ok. What is the average down-time and complaint turn-around time you have observed? |

| Platinum Member | As high as 3 weeks sometimes. Refer this thread: http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ions-bsnl.html (My interactions with BSNL) |

Rep Power: 2 | And the average down time? Why Im asking this is that sometimes I'll have to use it for some critical offie work. I've been staying with Airtel _because_ of their high uptime. But always meaning to shift to BSNL for their Home combo plans. Also, would 1.5GB be good enough for 3 people checking their mails daily and chatting for around 2-3 hours combined) |

| aditya | as per best of my knowledge BSNL is working good in noida, my taao ji got this in noida and never faced any problem with connection, would like to add here that he is a very light user, who use internet for basic surfing purpose only... not net monsters like us

Rep Power: 2 | So guyes I've finally deicided to go ahead with the BSNL 500C plan. 1.5gb limited + 2-8 am free. I;ve seen somewhere in this forum that in this plan, the BB rent is 500 and phone rent is 180. However, on bnsl tariff page and also on the handout given to me, under fone rental, its stated "NIL". Whats the deal on this? Also, when finally the guy comes to install, what all do I need to check so that Im assured of the quality of the connection. I have read about SNR's and attenuations etc...plz guide me. |

| Platinum Member | in 500C & 500C+ plans phone rental is nil.you will get 175 free calls i think in 500C plan with 1.5GB limit per month alongwith 2-8AM free time.in your modem settings(type 192.168.1.1 in your browser & use username/password as admin/admin)in overview/status tab check that SNR values are above 10 & Line Attn values are below 35.to be safe from billing errors in 2-8AM free time make sure that you restart your mode at 2:05AM & 7:55AM if your modem is set in pppoe mode(in which your BSNL username/password is stored in the modem & you get connected as soon as you turn on the modem)or disconnect & reconnect at above times if your modem is set in bridge mode(in which you use windows to connect to net).also match your PC clock with some good news channel(like AAJ TAK).regularly check your usage at BSNL portal(http://www.data.bsnl.in/wps/portal)using 14 characters portal ID(something like ami12345678901)provided by BSNL(usually the guy who comes to install). |
