Question D - Link USB wifi adapter.

Hi friends, I have a BSNL broadband connection for my desktop. The modem i have is UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 wifi modem. Now i want to connect my desktop to the Modem using USB wireless adapter. I have known that there are different products available in market like Netgear, D- link and linksys. I want to go for D-link USB adapter.

i want to know whether, Is it easy to install and use it with bsnl broadband ?

If not then which is the best and easiest to use with BSNL broadband.

    Please suggest.

    Thank you.

D-Link WUA-1340, if this is the model you are going for do not go for D Link.

    Newegg.com - D-Link WUA-1340 IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Wireless G USB Adapter Up to 54Mbps Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, WPA - Wireless Adapters

You can check out the above link for customer reviews.

I suggest Linksys. It might be bit more expensive but you will get quality.
Currently, LINKSYS WUSB54GSC is available near my place(Bangalore) which is decent and better than DLink. It is Rs 1425.

Newegg.com - LINKSYS WUSB54GSC IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Network Adapter with SpeedBooster Up to 54Mbps Data Rates WEP key bits: 64 Bit and 128 Bit WEP and WPA encryption - Wireless Adapters

If you are able to get hold of LINKSYS WUSBF54G, go for it.

Newegg.com - LINKSYS WUSBF54G IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Wireless-G Network Adapter with Wi-Fi Finder Up to 54Mbps Data Rates WEP Encryption, WPA Security - Wireless Adapters

Btw, newegg.com rocks, best site to buy hardware frm if one is in us.

Feel free to ask hardware doubts.

Wireless connectivity for Desktop Usb modem or PCI card ?
1.If you have a PCI slot free, go for Netgear PCI wireless lan card.. ( cost around Rs 900)

If u r planning to buy D-Link usb DWL-G122 which I think is the only model available in bangalore. I was unable to find much information about that product. It is Rs 1090 at apnacomp.com

Btw, @essbebe, the Netgear WG311 is not good. I know it is cheap but what about the quality. Please read the customer reviews at the below link.

Newegg.com - NETGEAR WG311 IEEE 802.11b/g PCI Wireless Adapter Up to 54Mbps Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP - Wireless Adapters

Edimax PCI wireless adapter is the best but is unavailable in bangalore.

I suggest to go for USB wireless interface as it is much more convenient to use.

    @harsham05
We don't know the location of @Ravichang. he has to buy what is available locally for warranty replacement.

what ever units you have suggested are for USB. 2.0
In an old Desktop this facility unlikely.
Netgear , being used for past one year in my friend's desktop. ( equivalent Febronics)
I am using netgear wgr614v6 wireless router . No problems.
For OS Vista compatability driver updates are nowadays required.
