    Unhappy bsnl wi-fi setup problem

    Hi
    Ok so here's the problem. i have a bsnl smartax mt882 modem. i recently purchased a linksys wap54g wireless access point. i now want to connect to the internet through wi-fi. i guess the setup will be most likely

    internet--->modem-->wap-->laptop.

    can anybody please guide me on how i will have to set this up, settings etc. Thanks

    Configure MT882 in PPPoE mode. Connect WAP54G as you said in your post using ethernet RJ45 cable. Refer this post further: Solution for multiple machines connecting to same BB connection

    If this is the problem why don't you try to change your internal (LAN) IP address

    you would need to port forward, the right ports on your modem to 192.168.1.2 for it to be accessible from the internet.. and when you access from the internet, you shouldnt use 192.168.1.2 ..you should use the ip address you get from What is my IP address? Show my IP address. IP Tracer & IP Locator.

    Hey there!
    I have the following problem: I have a SmartAX MT882 modem and a WAG54G wireless router and tried to connect them in order to use wi fi with my laptop. This is not working. I pluged the router in the modem and connected it to the desktop. But as soon as I do so, the internet on the desktop is not working anymore and neither is the wi fi. People keep telling me that the router is simply not comatible with the modem, but I did not find any evidence for that on the internet... Could anybody please help me and give me detailed instructions how to connect the modem and the router, so that I can use wi fi with my laptop???

    @Esherli
    1.Enable DHCP in MT 882.
    REF:BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU select PPPoE mode.
    2. Check Internet connection Ok with Desktop.
    3. Remove RJ45 from modem and connect to WAN port of WIfi router.
    http://www.talkbroadband.ca/en/qsg/
    4. Another Rj45 from LAN1 to laptop. .
    5. Ensure internet is working in laptop.
    6. Check Wireless LAN card in desktop or Laptop is configured properly. (Network/Wireless network /status)
    7.Start/All programs/Accessories/Communications/
    Wireless Network set up Wizard.
    8. Try settings without security code.
    9. If Ok enter wpa/wep security code.
    10. If not working Change RJ45 from modem to LAN1 of WIFI router and try.
    11. From ref link given above you can follow Type IV modem router wireless settings. say sl2_141.
    Feedback.
    Start/ RUN type cmd type ipconfig/all
    Post data here.
