Thread: new bsnl evdo connection

Hi guys,

I stay in BTM Layout 2nd stage in bangalore and planning to get a bsnl evdo connection. If any one is using bsnl evdo in this area plz share the experience. I have read on many forums that torrents dont work on bsnl evdo, It would be helpful if someone provides information on that.

I had a check with koramangala customer service center for BSNL EVDO connection. they informed me that its not yet activated in blore. I am sure that this may not be a true fact. well I am planning to visit the customer service center on wednesday and check the options avaialble. Will keep you posted.

I am not advising u to go for evdo. Better if u go for wired broadband connection. bcz the download/upload is very slow compare to wired one. I am in malleswaram and the download/upload speed is very slow. BSNL charges 550 pm as rental and if u pay 200 bucks + u can go for unlimited broadband whereas the modem u get for rs. 1,000 or less (for type 1 modem) and rs. 1,600 (in case u go for type 2 modem i.e. wireless). Here u have cough rs. 3500 for modem (in case purchase) or for rental rs. 200. In case u go for wired bsnl modem (on rental) u have to pay rs. 50 (type 1 modem) and rs. 80 (type 2 modem). Pl consider everything including rental of modem, monthly chgs. etc. if you consider modem rental i.e. 50 against 200 (u save 150/- and u have to pay just 50 bucks more for wired connection. And my dear friend, i advice u to go for wired connection only.) Choice is urs.

My suggestion dont go for evdo. The speed is not good. May be u get download speed. What about upload? Upload is very low. I suggest u go for broadband (wired) connection. Rest is left to u.

if you are a person who downloads a lot then evdo is not for you.. but for general browsing and stuff .. i think its a really good device..

No, Now BSNL EVDO is good also for downloading, I think it is better then my home broadband plan 256kbps. I can download with evdo.....much fasters speed then my home plan. yes, some time disconnection problem is also there.
