Post Experience of users of Bsnl EVDO card

Please share about your experience using Bsnl EVDO card (especially users in Hyderabad ).

I want to buy the card after seeing its performance, but the bsnl people say that they dont give demos and are asked me to talk to the people at the exchange(Himayatnagar) about the signal strength and any complaints and then buy the card as it would be useless if do not get the signal in my area. But they do not have any information about it.
So if anybody owns the card in Hyderabad please share your experience.

Lightbulb I took the Bsnl EVDO card

I took the Bsnl evdo card on rent today in Hyderabad. In HimayatNagar after a lot of adjustment I am getting 4 bars signal. But speeds are not consistent.
Though once I got 2mbps for 30seconds the speed is always around 25-40kBps.
It is at least better than 256kbps UL connection I have now.But the problem is the speed is not constant.I used the card for about 2 hours only till now. After using it for some more time I will tell more about the connection.

Thumbs up EVDO card is ok

    This EVDO card is ok.
I am getting speeds in between 300-550 kbps .I am still testing it for better positions to get good speed.I am getting 3-4 signal bars.I fell with so many bas I should get atleast 800-1000kbps.On an other forum I saw people in Hyderabad getting speeds in between 1000-1600kbps (according what they say and they posted a few images too). But anyway I am satisfied to a certain extent. It is better than 256UL hathway connection.I downloaded 3.5 GB in 25hours even when I was testing it (many times the speed used to go down when I changed the position) About 220MB was downloaded from mediafire, in 1hour keeping the card in a fixed position I was getting speed between 45-65kBps.I am just feeling ok with it.But trying to get a speed between 1000-1500kbps.Then only I will be fully satisfied.

I am posting a few speed test results .They vary a lot because I kept changing the position of the card and took the speeds

    Thumbs up

But Reliance does not provide any UL plans for Rs650, does it? That is what costs me for a month.I am getting an average speed of 450kbps, better than UL 300kbps plan that Reliance provides for Rs999 And you have to note that these wireless cards' speed vary a lot depending on you distance from the tower. Many other people who are using the Bsnl EVDO are getting speeds ranging from 1500-2000kbps.That speed is good enough keeping in mind that the plans provided by Bsnl are UL.And also I am trying to get better speeds on this card. Can anyone please help ?

Sorry, but this is the sad reality each & every BSNL users are dealing with, you cannot speed-up any further because you have made the biggest mistake in life by opting for BSNL; you will repent it for sure. 550 Kbps is what you can possibly expect from a Government owned service that has no infrastructure, support and professionalism. (No Offence)

Please stop saying that government owned services are always bad .Think of Bsnl broadband it is so good and economical. The customer service may not so good but my friends are using Bsnl home plan 500 with night UL and they are getting a speed of more than 2mbps almost all the time (in speedtest.net) even though the connections mentioned speed is 256kbps-2mbps.And about Bsnl evdo card go to bsnlevdoforum check out for yourself the speed that other users ,in my city and around India, are getting. There might be some problem with the tower near my locality or something so I am getting less speeds.I hope this problem wont last long.

And I need help in improving my cards' speed

Definitely deserves reps :thumbup1: good work

If possible when you go out check the speeds at various places of the city i.e., if and when you go out...
cos nothing can be compared to real people checking speeds in real time than ISP's claiming so-n-so speeds...

Sorry, but you can't increase the download speed unless you bring the tower to your balcony.

The signal is not a problem.I am getting a signal of 4-5 bars all the time. And very rarely it goes down to 3 bars. But I am still getting less download speeds ie. about 25-40kBps in daytime and 40-65kBps in the night time.I have seen users from my city and also from many other cities posting speeds of 1-1.8mbps.So I think there is scope for improvement.

Post EV-DO working well at other place

I gave my card to a friend to test.He stays a few away from my place on on higher floor. He was getting speeds ranging from 45-125kBps.
It touched 1mbps many times.even he gets full signal but I think he is getting higher speeds because he is at a higher altitude. He downloaded 3.5 GB in just 9 hours from mediafire.
But still at my place I am not getting good speeds.

Now I am getting a bit better speeds through out the whole day.
I think it has something to with the new set of IPs that I am now getting. And the torrent speed is also is nearly same as that of direct download.
    The ports are forwarded properly.
I downloaded 4.5GB in 24 hours even though the downloads were paused many times to browse.I think it is an improvement.

Post My EV-DO card speed at present

I am getting good average speeds now.Getting speeds of 60-80kBps in the day time.
And at night I am getting speeds ranging from 70-120kBps.
I am posting a picture of my speed here

(The speed in the window is not always constant. But you should see that I downloaded 1GB in five hours so that means my average speed is somewhere near 62kBps)

I am from Hyderabad.Atleast for now I am getting good speeds(you can have a look the above picture).
A week before now I was getting awful speeds. Now I feel is areally worth for what I pay.
But remember speed depends a lot on your location. So if you want the card first try it
    and then only buy it.

Now the 300kbps UL plan from Reliance in Hyderabad costs Rs.650(usage charges)+phone rent(Rs.50) and you also get Rs.150 talktime. When I made the above post it was Rs.999

If I try to upload anything my download speed is coming down.
In the wired connection I did'nt face this problem.
I used a private tracker with a lot of seeders till now so my upload speed didnt cross 5kBps
But when I am using public tracker the download speeds are coming down very badly.
    What can be the problem?

It is available in Hyderabad and i know , one of our members shifted to EVDO , located at Mehidipatnam, Hyd.
Perhaps the availability is area wise, and in his area , the service may not be available.
