Question Can I use BSNL EVDO Card with CDMA 1x Plan

    Hello Friends,

I had some questions regarding mobile internet using BSNL Data card.

After a lot reading and Googling, I have decided to go for BSNL NIC data card because it offers unlimited internet at Rs.250 pm. However I had some questions in my mind, hope some one might be able to answer.

    1. Can I purchase BSNL EVDO data card(just the Hardware) without the internet connection(Monthly plan)
    2. Is the EVDO Card(Blank Data Card) available in market for Sale, if yes can you please suggest some online site or store in Jaipur.
    3. Can I purchase the EVDO card from BSNL and opt for CDMA 1x (Unlimited at 250 pm) plan on it. I just want to be future proof, in case any day I want to upgrade to EVDO, I'll not have to invest again on Hardware

Please help, I am badly in need to internet and want to purchase one asap.

    Thanks
    Suresh

I can't tell you about your first two questions but the third one is possible. I am from Kolkata and I use the EVDO device but my connection is the 1x one. Actually when I applied for my connection the CDMA 1x device was out of stokc, so they gave me the EVDO device with the lesser speed.

    Thanks Buddy,
I had asked my Dad to get one for me, and he has sent it through cargo service, I'll be able to collect it by 9.00 AM, I am eager to know what device is it. Will post once I get the device up and running.

All I know right now is the BSNL guys suggested my Dad not to purchase the device and rent it. If satisfied with the services, then go for a purchase option.

So right now the cost per month is Rental - 150,Monthly charges 350(unlimited).
    Thanks!!!

Most of the time the BSNL guys don't give correct suggestions, but in your case they have atleast provided good suggestion. Its better t get it on rent and use it for sometime and see whether you are satisfied with it or not. I outright purchased the usb device and now that I want to surrender it, I have nothing to do but to keep the device with me which will be of no use for me anymore.

Yeah..thank god they suggested something good. I truly appreciate their suggestion.

Got the device, results from speedtest.net below

    Download -0.07Mbps(~70kbps)
    Upload - 0.05Mbps(~50kbps)

I'll post detailed review on my blog later today.
    Thanks

Dont worry, you have a EVDO modem, you can upgrade your plan on the same device. EVDO works at 2.1Mbps and BSNL offers EVDO at unlimited just 750/month. Still you have some hope.
