    Default Bsnl evdo?

Hi,I am new to this forum.I have UL750 at home which gives good speeds for unlimited plans.I'm planning to go to Solan(HP) for further studies,so I might need a new connection. Is BSNL EVDO 750 good in Himachal area and is it worth it?I'm a heavy downloader.Do I need a new sim or modem? Thanks. Also, since my father is government employee, will i get 20 %discount on evdo as well?Should I need to apply from Solan or Punjab(home)?

You will need to buy an EvDO card. Price has come down drastically as people are moving to 3G. EvDO is the only service that offers 2.4 Mbps unlimited for Rs. 750. The speed depends on the tower. Don't buy from your home town (you can buy if they are more friendly and helpful) because some towers give only 144 Kbps. So if you go for Rs. 750 plan and the tower in that area does not support 2.4 Mbps speed you will end up paying Rs. 750 for just 144 Kbps unlimited. Once you reach there, go to the local exchange and talk to them. Confirm (double check) if the tower supports EvDO. I think EvDO card costs around Rs. 1, 500 or something.

EvDO used to give 20% discount, check if it is still available

As a promotion discount/rebate @ 20% on usage and FMC is offered to serving Govt./PSU employees initially for a period of One Year from 01.11.2010.

BSNL EVDO card model ZTE AC8700 does not use a sim. Please check availability of service and speed.

    Hi All,
I am an EVDO user since September 2008. My EVDO is registered at Model Colony Exchange Pune. I have relocated to Goa and these are the data from my EVDO.

    IPv4 Connectivity Internet
    IPv6 Connectivity Limited
    Speed 115.2 Kbps

    Connection Specific DNS Suffix
    Description ZTE Wireless Terminal
    Physical Address
    DHCP Enabled No
    IPv4 IP Address 117.254.9.50
    IPv4 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
    IPv4 Default Gateway
    IPv4 Servers 218.248.240.181
    192.168.50.170
    IPv4 WINS Servers 172.18.3.3
    172.18.3.4
Net BIOS over TCPIP Enabled No

Does this mean my speed is only 115.2 Kbps?
Please help as to how I can get a better speed.
    Thanks,
    Merv
