Thread: Bsnl evdo in kerala

Dear all friends,

I am a new member and also a EVDO user, i would like to Know about the experience of EVDO in kerala. Especially in network, speed, coverage.

In my experience is very bad, i am in kollam district living in Mangadu. any tips for getting good coverage and speed. Please help dear friends. What about the experience USB extension cable also.......

EVDO is a form of wireless broadband. Like any other conventional form of wireless broadband access, the stability of the connection is fairly dependent upon the distance of nearest EVDO enabled tower from your premises and the positioning of the EVDO dongle.

Before subscribing to the service, please contact the nearest BSNL exchange and ask them to conduct a feasibility test on your premises. This test will conclude whether you can enjoy EVDO services without any major issues.

I have used the said service without any major issues before moving to Airtel BB. But I might attribute it to the nearest EVDO enabled BSNL tower; which was at a stone throw from my place. I am not sure about the present scenario though since I have stopped using the connection.

Agree with Cool Techie. The distance from tower and signal strength plays a considerable role in case of wireless broadband. You can try relocating your PC to somewhere near the window where signal reception is good. Also try a signal booster for your EvDO. Do you use an USB EvDO card ? Or a PCI one ? You can try using USB extension cable.

Mention your plan and speed you are getting. If your tower does not support EvDO, the maximum speed will be 144 Kbps.

First up on i have no idea about signal booster, hpw is it working..?

i am using USB EVDO, until now not used usb extension cable.My paln Rs.750/- unlimited, most of the time only getting below 100...
