Thread: Bsnl evdo...ue100 data card low speeds

i got an EVDO data card yesterday......its a UE100 prithvi model....my signal (RSSI) is -79dbm but my speeds are pretty low....its 256-512kbps instead of 3.1 mbps.....my plan is 750 UL....the signal tower is beside my house.....i kno ppl with lesser signal who get better dwnload rates.....yes i tested in speedtest.net too and got low results...almost 0.18mbps.......i kno i wont be receiving 3.1 mbps but atleast 2mbps or 1.5 mbps is expected being so close to the tower

check dns..

maybe your direction is not ok.. check by keeping the modem at different places in the house..

i hav changed to Open DNS but this actually doesnt affect dwnload speed....its more affects Browsing speed......but funny thing is in some places of my house i am getting -74dbm signal......and today whn i went to the BSNL exchange (the Signal Tower is over there).....whn i plugged in 2 test my Data Card i saw that the Signal there is -74dbm althought the tower was a few feet away.....and the download speed was as slow as ever........

I have the same data card and i get very good download speeds of about 2 to 2.5 mbps.

what is your RSSI value...??

The modem software shows RSSI -84 dbm

ok i dont get it.....mine shows -79......so obviously my signal is better and stronger than yours.....but still i am getting such low speeds....what other factors can be affecting my Modem's Performance...??......and i hav tested my speed in Direct dwnload,Torrent download (fully seeded torrent from IPTORRENTS) and even in Speedtest.net...........i just dont kno y i am getting such low speeds.........

i think it depends upon the tower, u check on the speed available in your in the bsnl site , for me i am getting around 600kbps to 1.1mbps bandwith.. i tried with my friends evdo modem(old one) not the new ue100.. u get a download speed minimum of 50 kbps..

You should register a complaint with bsnl local and on bsnl website as early as possible . I think the problem is in the modem.
