BSNL is being fair by not implementing the unfair 'Fair use policy'

That means its actually unlimited....download whole day and night... you will pay a fixed 250.

If you live in rural aread, the charges are even less than that.

I have a BSNL WLL connection. But only a Hyundai Telephone Handset. Will it work as a modem for Internet connection.

Recently the Hyundai handset has gone out of order. The BSNL does not have a spare Handset to provide. Can this WLL # be shifted to any telephone available in the market ? It is said on the website that any CMDA telephone of IS-95A/800 MHz can be used. But the BSNL people say no set available in the market will work.

Will this set work as modem for accessing net ?

    No,
    They are locked internally.

Pay Rs 500 and get a new Set for your connection.
    Its pretty cheap anyways.

    Thank you for the reply.

But where should I pay Rs.500/-? BSNL says they do not have any set available in their stock.

Will Internet of unlimited Rs.250/- be available through Hyundai handset ?

Secondly, can I opt for a Fixed WLL as a replacement so that I can access Internet too ?

The best idea would be to visit BSNL customer care and evaluate the options.

I think Fixed WLL is only available in Rural areas- These have super heavy duty antennas that your screw on a wall for reception.

My all efforts with BSNL to get a Handset against my WLL phone failed as they say the set is not available in stock. They refer to other exchanges, who also talk in the same tone. Will I be billed for the period they are unable to provide a handset? Is there any set available in the market which can be used in place of the Hyundai set issued by them and is not working now?w

    I understand your pathetic condition....

Our Fuel bills are more than telephone bills- as we have to visit their office a zillian times to get the thing done.

As these sets don't have any standard 'SIM' or ID card, you can't transfer your account to some other set. Sorry

Get this set Cancelled or they keep billing you.

Ensure you are getting good range on the set.

I get about 18~19KB/s at full range which is extremely good speed at the price.

Default BSNL's WLL wireless unlimited internet @Rs.250

Is BSNL's WLL wireless unlimited internet @Rs.250 per month better than Tata Indicom Whiz wireless internet?
I m currently using Tata Indicom Whiz wireless internet. I dont find it good in terms of speed and cost-effective.Besidez the service, I find the rates very expensive than compared to BSNL wirless internet (WLL),which is at Rs.250 + rs 180 for phone rent = Rs.430 per month.

I m currently in theTata Indicom Whiz Rs.325 plan which gives me 30 hours of free internet after which I ll be charged 50p/minute during day time and 25p/minute from 0200-0800 hrs. I dont think Tata Indicom works for me.

I came to know about BSNL's WLL wireless unlimited internet @Rs.250.

I want answers to the following questions -

1.Is the internet speed better than Tata Indicom Whiz?

2.What is the download speed? The download speed for Tata Indicom Whiz ranges from 10Kb to 16kb.On using Download Accelerator,it ranges from 18kb-25kb,but it isnt that fast. Of course,I do understand that it is not broadband.

3.Since its unlimited internet at Rs.430 per month [Rs.250 + Rs.180(phone rent)],is there extra charge for downloading content from the web like audio or video files or watching YouTube Videos?

4.I have read on many forums that BSNL's WLL wireless unlimited internet @Rs.250 per month is cheap and best. Is it the best in terms of wireless internet?

Hope you will answer my questions.

    Thanks.

Thumbs up i got WLL too... are there any hidden charges?

hi guys.. dis will be my first post..
dint know dere were so many guys using WLL high speed internet coz bsnl wale told me dat dis service is very new.. so i got this big blue cuboid wireless modem and a normal landline phone, a big battery and a data cable wid me.

WLL net is very much okay.. m very near to d tower in my college.. so i get full signal strenght.

guys i hav some queries.. :
    1. i am unsure about the tariff, as i don't hav some formal documentation regardin the new connection details, is dere a way to check it online.. like hav on my home fixed line broadband. i enter d phone no. on mtnl site and i get all d details bout current plan n everything, usage, etc

    2. are there any hidden costs in dis plan.. its said to be 'unlimited' but dere were some posts above sayin dis might happen. i hav 250 + 180 ka plan plus phone calls. dat i might get a shock with the bill. :P

    3. and.. :P is dere a way to increase d speed even more.. i get a constant 17KB/s down speed and jst a bit more wid torrents.

    Heya theblur2,

    Glad2kno u r usin WLL.

Is the connection good for downloads? Wat do u think?

Wats the average download speed? Also is it having good speed for browsing?

Y dont u try Download Accelerator software....U ll get it for download at Download.com. It shoots up ur download. My current Tata Indicom Whiz gives me a download of average 10K.....When I use Download Accelerator, it shoots upto 16-18K sometimes goes upto 25-30K,but cums down.
I tink Download Accelerator s effective....I think a new version has come out called Download Accelerator Plus (Version 9 or so). U should try it...Its pretty good.

I dont tink there r additional charges as far as I kno and the info I m gettin fr the forum....Its juz 250+180.....I ll b taking one next week.

    Cheers!!

    Wink wll internet

Yes. WLL-FWT set comes with built in modem. For accessing Internet you don’t need any additional modem. The following procedure may be followed for establishing Internet connection. 1. Connect RS-232 cable between your PC COM port and data port of FWT 2. In control panel select Add Hardware 3. In Modems menu select Don’t detect option 4. Set Modem as Standard 19.2 Kbps Modem 5. Save the settings and restart the computer Now your PC is ready to access internet. Use other steps like dial my connection and Internet explorer for accessing internet.

    Hello,
I finally got the WLL. The speed s satisfactory. The browsing speed s OK to slow.On using download accelerator, the download speed shoots upto 15-16K. The network goes kaput after say 1 hour of internet and there are instances where you need to disconnect and then connect.
I better get used to it.Gettin internet@Rs.250 doesnt mean u get evating.
    Its juz satisfactory!!!!
BSNL say speed for WLL is 144 kbps, but my laptop taskbar shows me 230.4 kbps...
    Wonder wat dat means?
    Beats me!!!

Does anyone know how to boost up the internet connection?
    Any inputs would b valuable.
    Cheers!!!!

Default bsnl WLL latency issues !!

    admins.. a prob for you...

bsnl wll does provide okay okay speed.. m gettin wat dey promise... download managers and torrents do download at +/- 16 KB/s.

m into a lil gamin and i think 17 KB/s wud be okay for cs 1.6 or age of empires II.
but d real prob is dat the ping in speedtest.net is 1000+ dats y d bad lag in opening sites.. i think d bandwidth is alrite but pings suck big time...
m using bsnl wll 250 unlimited connection. some1 mentioned dis is due to shared static ip.. i googled around to lower pings and smbdy here has mention 'tree walk' but it seems too complicated at d moment.

so is dere sm other solution... like changin my default DNS server or by sm other means.. i got dis connection in hostel n its utility wud really be halved if i can't play Counter strike .... :48:

and shud i post dis stuff elswhr ki ye post admins ki nazron mein aa jaye ??
