    Question Wireless broadband in Jalandhar

    Hello all,
Soon i will be moving to Jalandhar to study in LPU and i need a wireless connection to use there. I know campus has Wifi but they block some sites and youtube as i have heard. I am a heavy internet user maybe 20 GB or so per month is minimum. I looked into BSNL Evdo and plan looks good but how is the service there? are there any other options? I need minimum of 1 mbps and price should not matter that much. 3G cost quite a bit so i need advise here please.

    Thanks in advance.

My advise to you would be to go there and find out what other students are using and which provider has good signal strength where you would be staying. If you know for sure that Bsnl 3G is available and if you are from Delhi by any chance then just get an Mtnl 3G sim card with Rs4500 for 6 months prepaid plan which would give you 200GB for 6 months and would cost Rs750 a month with 33.3GB per month to use. You cant beat this price with anything apart from may be Bsnl EVDO 750 a month unlimited if the signal strength is good over there.

Do not buy anything in advance. I am sure you would come back home in 15-20 days once you get there and I am sure it wont be too hard to live without youtube for two weeks.. Find out what others are using once you get there and get it

LPU is located a bit away from the city, so like Admin said it would be best to see what the others are using and then choose the connection according to that.

Prashank you have been given some good advice by Admin and Brain Box, otherwise if you would have brought the connection before actually settling down there may have been a chance that you would have been stuck with a connection which didnt give good coverage.
