BSNL Calcutta telephones is giving new promotional offer in mobile prepaid connection like broadband.Within 99 Rs (SIM cost including taxes) prepaid connection user will get 20 Rs talk time and 5 paise call rate in all Calcutta telephones circle's BSNL number also customer will get STD rates half in the night (11 PM--7AM) this offer is upto 18th May 2009.

thanks for the info rupu ... will the 5 paise call rates be applicable permanently for buyers of this sim? or is it for a limited period?

smart is also giving some very good offers on new connections in kolkata ... do check them out also ..

hmmm... very good offer specially if most people in your circle are bsnl subscribers ... in my case i wont be able to use this to the fullest ... most of my friends have VF connection...

6. STD call other than Eastern region (all Network) Re 1/- per min
11 PM to 07 AM Intra and inter circle calls terminating in own Network 50 % of the peak hour call charges

An impressive plan. hope it was available in other circles

the plan is no doubt good ... but i wonder how long services atthis rate will be provided ... coz once these rates are not applicable - bsnl rates are not so cheap ...

without monthly recharge of any bonus card? just the Rs.99 sim will give these tariffs for 6 months ... !!!??

Well, in that case i must say it is indeed a very good offer but i havent heard much about this in my circle. Infact i was planning to get a second connection for my old hadset and was more inclined towards aircel. will definitely check this out now.

No no. I meant they cannot change the existing offers for a minimum period of 6 months. Some TRAI norm it is..

Important Update:

Yesterday we subscribed to this plan and bought the new sim for a spare mobile at home ... I came to know just now.

The offer is really good... but the real CATCH is here:

After expiry of 60 days recharge can be done by using RCV of Rs.124/-having talk value of Rs.50/- & validity 30 days or RCV of Rs.249/- having talk value of Rs.100/- & validity 60 days with the above tariff features of Kolkata 99.No other RCVs are allowed.

What does BSNL mean by Eastern Region? What areas does it cover?

Kolkata 99, cannot be recharged over the internet.
Can it be converted to regular excel prepaid plan? If so what is to be done?
