Thread: BSNL to launch 3G in Chennai first

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd will start 3G telecoms services by end-March, Telecoms Minister A. Raja said on Tuesday.

It is understood that the service would be started in the hands of K. Karunanidhi.
Regarding Pvt. 3G services, the Minister has also stated that there are still chances of completing the entire auction process before March 31, 2009, even though issues regarding the licence fee and bandwidth are yet to be decided by a ministerial panel.
Currently BSNL is running trial 3G operations in Pune.
In addition to Chennai, work is also going on in J&K, Orissa and Jharkhand for launch of 3G services almost immediately after Chennai.
