    Default BSNL Voice mail

Is anyone using BSNL voice mail and if so from which circle?

for my Kolkatta ( east zone) circle the number 17000 is always saying Busy , previously the BSNL voice mail service was the best one as we can record personal greetings scheduled delivery and a lot feature

But why BSNL has disabled the service its a mystery , its not working in any circle ,

if any one knows any information please share

Very recently Kolkatta circle( east zone) is offering the service in a new interface but totally full of error , cant do anything

Yes, BSNL Voice Mail is now working. Send ACT VMS to 53733.
The Voice Mail Box number is +9117000.

VMS is working but there are some errors which need to be rectified by UMN authority.

    1. The new system is not like the previous one, earlier we could have recorded personalized msgs to greet the caller, now its not available which lacks the main specialty of what a VM System can do.

    2. i think we cant record greetings from other service provider cell fones. only BSNL can .
    3. You can put any number to send VMS in the system even from Outside BSNL number, where the system will just send SMS to both the numbers.

I am having issues with BSNL VMS. I have my calls diverted to +9117000 and when ever a user calls it says "Your call is being forwarded please wait" and then disconnects. Its is not going to my voice mail. Any ideas?

More over when I try to access my VM box by dialing +9117000 it says the number is not in use???

Finally got BSNL CellOne voice mail system working in south circle. Had to go through lot of hops to get it working. Don't know why BSNL makes things so complicated for themselves. It seems BSNL call center 1503 does not know anything about Voice mail system, features or its existance. There are two services
    1. BSNL Voice mail system-Free to use but will be charged normal call charges to retrieve voice messages
    2. BSNL UMS System (Unified Messaging System)-Includes, Voice Mail, Fax, Email service (yourbsnlnumber@bsnlums.com) Rs. 75/month subscription charges

Ok now lets come to how to activate and use BSNL Voicemail or BSNL UMS System.

Activate BSNL CellOne Voice Mail system- Send sms ACT VMS to 53733 and wait for activation confirmation message. After activation you have to dial 17000 to configure your voice mail box (Greeting, Password etc). (If you dail 17000 with out VMS activation you will be prompted to enter your UMS mailbox number)

After setting up your Voicemail box. You have to go to call divert and Set-If Busy divert to +9117000, If not answered divert to +9117000, If out of reach divert to +9117000 etc. (BSNL guys say it will only work for if busy-Just ignore them. They don't know what they are talking about-Lazy ass...)

    ************************************************** ************************************************** ***************
Activate BSNL CellOne UMS (Unified Messaging System)- Send sms ACT UMS to 53733 and wait for confirmation message. After activation Rs.75 will be deducted from your balance as first months fee. After activation you have to dial 17000 to configure your voice mail box (Greeting, 4 digit Password, FAX and EMail Settings etc). You have to send sms DACT UMS to 53733 to deactivate this service.

Now you can go to www.bsnlums.com and log on with your phone number and 4 digit password (which you set after dialing 17000) to check your Voice messages/Fax/Email online.

One exiting feature of having UMS is you have an email address with YourBSNLmobilenumber@bsnlums.com to send and receive emails (Example 9440000123@bsnlums.com) or what ever your bsnl cell number.

You may face weired issue after activaiton. Your call will not get diverted to the Voicemail number (+9117000). The caller gets message that the call is being forwarded and the call gets disconnected. In this case get hold of your circle BSNL Cellone DE (Divisional Engineer) and request them to fix the issue. If you call 1503 those idiots does not know what your problem is and you will simply waste time. Trust me on this.. I wasted almost two weeks trying to explain the customer service idiots (1503) about the problem and got fedup...

Good luck with your Voice Mail/UMS features. Note that ONLY BSNL has these features and no other provider provides these services. Thats why I am with BSNL....

Thanks for the detailed how to ... explanation.
may be it is worth the trouble to get VMS may be.

even though we see calling party no in missed call ...sometimes nuisance calls are there.

Very useful when we are out of range or switched off and the calling party leaves a voice message ( they can send sms which will land in our in box moment we switch on or signal restored etc)

    You are welcome Ulysses.....
Mickey, I am sorry to say you got confused. For Missed call alerts it is 17010 (You have to divert calls to 17010) and NOT 17000. 17000 is only for Voice Mail Service/Unified Messaging Service.

With UMS your email will be sent as yournumber@bsnlums.com as from address. You can also receive SMS/Emails to this email address and check/reply online by logging on to www.bsnlums.com website

    Thumbs up Bsnl ums/vms

    Dear All,

When you activate BSNL VMS or UMS call divert for switched off and out of reach condition will be activated automatically to 17000. If you want to enable for busy and no-answer condition then you have to do manually.

The UMS service will be useful for subscribers going abroad, as they can hear/read the voice/fax/email from bsnlums.com portal.

Few services are given only by BSNL which should be appreciated and VMS/UMS is one of them.

    REgards,
    Nive

In BSNL UMS/VMS the call divert for switchoff and out of reach is activated by default, if u want to enable for busy and no answer condition you have to do manually.

BSNL UMS is very useful for people travelling abroad for few months, they can activate ums and they can read/hear the voice/fax/email using bsnlums.com portal.

Few services are only given by BSNL which should be appreciated and VMS/UMS is one of them.

    Thanks
