    Default BSNL Increases Prepaid Tariffs

As if it was not enough that the BSNL free night plan was stopped, BSNL have gone ahead and increased call rates for prepaid customers. The hike is to be done by 67%, and amoung all this there will be certain plans which will be withdrawn.

The increase in tariff rates will take effect from 1st August 2014.

Changes to BSNL calling rates are as below:

    Per Minute Plan

Charge for voucher is Rs104 and it used to be Rs37
Free talk time of Rs100 is included as a freebee
Voice call charges are Rs1 per minute and used to be Rs0.60 per minute (on net)
Voice call charges are Rs1 per minute and used to be Rs0.70 per minute (off net)

    Per Second Plan

Charge for voucher is Rs48 and it used to be Rs42
Free bundled top up of Rs40 is included as a freebee
Voice call charges are Rs0.018 and used to be Rs0.012 (on net)
Voice call charges are Rs0.018 and used to be Rs0.015 (on net)

    Pyari Jodi

Charge for voucher is Rs75 and used to be the same
Free 2000 + 2000 seconds on net and off net calls
Voice call charges are Rs1 per minute and used to be Rs0.60 per minute (on net)
Voice call charges are Rs1 per minute and used to be Rs0.70 per minute (off net)

There is quite an increase in some of the charges, which I dont think users would have expected. What do you all think about this step that BSNL has taken?

That really sucks. I smell some behind the scenes stink some where I love this BJP government but playing with BSNL isint the best way forward. Keeping the call tariffs in check is in the best interest of the nation.

Soon there will not be much difference in government and private service providers. The government customer service has always been rubbish anyway and now their plans will be like that too.

BSNL is taking their customers for granted. Since they are government organisation they think that they can play cat and dog games with their customers, and the fat cheque at the end of the month will not be affected. The day is coming soon when they will regret their decisions.

I hope MTNL will not take these kind of steps!! So far they are the cheapest and most affordable telecom companies in Delhi.

MTNL is the cheapest but also on the biggest loss making telecom company in Delhi. I dont know how long can they sustain poor customer service and loss of customers due to that. IPTV has come to an end when all across the world it is on the rise. MTNL has too many bad fish in its waters. The sarkari attitude even after being privatised keeps them from providing a good customer experience. My own broadband connection was down for three months in a row and no one turned up to sort it out and in the end I got it disconnected.

To add to this there are plans which are being withdrawn, which are:

    New General Plan
    Student Special and the
    Life Time plan

Not good at all for BSNL users!
