    Default high speed servers

    Hi friends,

    One of my online friends started his own seedbox service and is offering the following plans. Ive rented his box slot too and it gives nice performance. For low end users it looks pretty reasonable. Given below are his proposals:

    Plan 1

    4 active torrents
    15 gb hdd
    15$

    Plan 2

    6 active torrents
    25 gb hdd
    25$

    Plan 3

    8 active torrents
    35 gb hdd
    35$

    *FTP included
    *Unlimited bandwidth
    *separate µTorrent WebUi per user
    * Only private torrent Trackers
    * Customer plans based on requirements too
    * Instant Support via email/chat
    * Only paypal payment

    Cheers

    To the uninitiated, here is what Seedbox means.

    Seedbox is a virtual machine that you get from a company having a server farm. You can get a virtual server (most O/S are supported although Windows is most popular), with a specified memory and hard-dosk space. You will also get a high speed/unlimited usage internet connection, typically like 8 mbps or more.

    Once you signup, you will be able to login to your server (aka seedbox) via remote desktop connection. Then you are connected to the seedbox like a VPN. It is like any other windows desktop (or your chosen OS). You can then install a torrent client on your seedbox. Depending upon your plan, you can run (download/upload) one or more torrents.

    Because of the super high speeds, you can keep running torrents 24x7, at very high speeds (examples shown in previous post). Because of 24x7 connection, unlimited internet usage, express speeds, your torrents will download quickly. The internet plan has very high upload speed also. So seeding is not an issue. This also helps in having high upload ratio specifically demanded by private trackers.

    Once the torrent is downloaded completely, it is stored on the seedbox's hard disk. The seedbox plan has a HDD limit as per the subscription. Now all you have to do is use FTP to download the file from seedbox to your local disk. This will get downloaded much faster because you have the complete file and your own private connection.

    If there are some more loose ends to be tied up, let me know.

    I have looked at many seedbox schemes but found that their rates were quite high. The advandtage of seedbox over Rapidshare is that seedbox is your own environment and as long as you do not do anything that compromises the seedbox or its owner you are free to do anything.

    Seedboxes are too expensive.Maintaing a good ratio is never a problem at most places provided you have good disk space & have 24/7 connectivity.
