It is always best to buy from your local shop so you have some one to get back to. On the internet that too from a different country is not a very good idea for various reasons.
A mobile handset bought in USA might not have an international warranty and if it develops a fault what would you do?
Pay few rupees extra and do not get carried away by cheap offers.

One KG airmail parcel rate is around Rs 600/=
by snail postal service P &T from INDIA. not applicable.
Courier services charges I think starts at Rs 2000/= per Kg. or part thereof. from U.S.
    usual custom clearance.
In ebay etc seller agrees for shipping only within U.S.
Cellphones in U.S are given free by the telephone companies , for a contract period of say 1 year or two years. Then you have to get it unlocked. on line ( on payment of a fee )
WARRANTY AND REPAIR will be again a problem.

If someone gifts you , well and good !
which is the model you are interested in ?
Search in Ebay India or Google search engine.
Say type Nokia N73 in search box
Also the freq of operation can be different.
again GSM/ or CDMA phones or dual type.

Give full specifications of the Blackberry model available in U.S.
    You are wasting time here.
Which is the present model you own ?
What facilities VAS extra you need ?

There is not much difference in prices of mobile phones between India and North America. Are you sure it is not tied up with some yearly contract with the service provider? that is how you would normally get it at throw away prices and for that you will need to have a local address and a credit history to be eligible as they run a credit check before they would sell such contract phones.
In India providers do not subsidise mobile phones like they do in some other countries so that creates an impression that phones are cheaper in USA or in Europe.

the unlocked phones without a 2 year contract probably cost more in the US than in India.

Its totally doable! I actually posted a comment in another section of the forum saying I have done that in the past. I used a parcel forwarding co called Shipito bcos Amazon guys wouldn't send it to me in India. Look them up, if you'd like. Shipito guys also buy stuff on your behalf if you dont have an international credit card and you can send them a money order. Hope this helps!
