Thread: anyone tried with wifi router connecting from pc and phone

hi, after a long time posting in this forum. hope u guys r all well. so here is my problem..

the picture:

my local cable-wala (the isp is wishnet) provide me a static ip (lan ip) which i will connect to my lappy rj45 and then i will get to open a webpage to login and then i click on 'connect internet', a popup window will open and hav to remain open till i disconnect. so its a weblogin..

now i hav wifi router which has wan, lan and all those things.. accessing my router with 192.168.1.1. my router is d-link dsl-2640T (adsl+ wifi router)

i want to connect to my wifi router from my lg p500 ph and also from pc at the same time, so dat i can connect to net.

the prob is with the static ip.. my iso given me..
ip = 172.16.x.x
subnet = 255.x.x.128
gateway = 172.16.x.1
dns = 172.16.x.1

wireless settings in router
vlan id = 0
priority = 0
channel = 11

ur connected devise must hav this ip otherwise it wont login. the isp weblogin page ip is 192.168.x.x

whereas my router lan ip is 192.168.1.1 and also in dhcp mode its provide 192.168.x.x ip .
its very confusing and difficult to configure and connet.

what i first did..
i gave the router wan address as provided by isp (172.16.x.x) and other like subnet,gateway etc.
my router lan ip still 192.168.x.x. i also enabled NAT mode. disabled firewall.
then i connect my phone and pc to router through wifi and so my phone n pc get a ip 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3. bt i cant open the isp weblogin page neither i can connect to net.

as i am very frustrated after so many tryings ..guys can u plz help me with this.

see my screenshot !! what problem is this, has the BSNL modem been configured in this fashion ?? if yes, can this be undone ??

Confirm you are trying to use this with a Cable Internet Rj45 connection.
If so "don't care " whether you can enter details here or not.
Because there is no ADSL PVC Rj11 input !!

Change to "Bridged" mode. all the links .

post ipconfig /all when connected. only LAN network.
You may have to try the modem/router as a switch.

If you get a standalone WIFI router ( such as Netgearwgr614 V8)
enable Dynamic IP and connect to WAN port. and test wifi mode.

I am giving you the screenshot, of the current connections inside the modem.Take a look, all the options were showing Bridged by default, is there any more change needed. Also the teracom link that you provided said to give password and userid. but in wishnet there is no dial system, we have to give the userid and password on there website.

Also by switch what do you mean?? Please can you elaborate a bit. And if I did make it sucessfully into a switch, wifi wont work ??

I will try this. Dont have modem.
Let me tell you what i did try earlier. I took the output of another modem(ADSL) connected to BSNL, and inserted it into port 1 of my wifi modem. Without making any changes, it worked, that is all computer connected from port 2 to post 4 had internet and also I was getting internet through wifi.

I took the output of another modem(ADSL) using a another modem, and inserted it into port 1 (LAN1 or WANport ) of my wifi modem......

taking screenshot but but should i configure the lan card first (i.e. going into the properties of the lan card) and putting ip address as the cable people has directed me. or should i leave it to automatically assign (which i am sure wont do anything).

Save ipconfig /all in notepad.
select only LAN entries.

problem solved, i just bought a Dlink wifi router, very simple to configure....

I am thinking of upgrading my home netwrok to a wireless one. i am using wishnet as well from my cable wala. Did you managed to set up the wifi connection ? how did you do that? if you can share that will be helpful. thanks in advance..

just buy the dlink wifi router. connect the router and open the config page inside the router. the settings are simple, once you see it you will understand it. If any difficulty, report here or PM.
