    Default wifi connectivity issue

    Hi,
I am having an internet service provided by 5 networks. It is basically a PPPOE connection. I have 1 laptop (windows 7) i need to get connected wirelessly . Iam having a D-link DIR - 300.
    Things i tried :-
I connected the ethernet cable provided by ISP to the DIR 300 in the INTERNET port. Went to the router connection setting, selected the pppoe......dynamic ip......entered the username password etc etc., i even cloned the mac address as this ISP only provides connection for a single computer. But it is not working.

P.S :- please explain me the procedure (even the way to go about connecting the wires) elaborately, step by step. The ISP people are not helping me out with any settings or information
I really appreciate all the help you can provide me. Thank you.

    Hi

    Please provide the following information:
    1. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
    2. What type of connection are you using (DSL or Cable, as I am confused which ethernet cable provided by ISP you are talking about)
    3. Do you have any CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) provided by ISP

It is really very much possible that your ISP has applied MAC binding which will not allow you to use any router till the time they bind your routers MAC address.

    Hey smoothvibes,
Iam sorry to reply so late. Was out of station.
    1) My ISP is Five Networks. Please google five networks, the first site you get will be my ISP's website.(Iam not yet allowed to post urls)
    2) Its an ethernet cable which comes directly from my terrace through my window.
    3) ISP has not given any equipment except for the ethernet cable coming from terrace through my window.

And when MAC binding is concerned, yes my ISP has applied MAC binding on my LAPTOP but on connection setting on my router i did that clone MAC id but its not working out. But still if required I can request my ISP to release my MAC ID.
P.S: Iam sorry for newbie replies but Iam do not have much technical knowledge.

    NO modem/router supplied by ISP>

Please download an application called "connectify" and install in the laptop(A) connected to your ISP.
    http://www.connectify.me/

Now laptop (A) will work as a wifi router ~~~ to other systems in wifi mode. (limited range )

    Try and give feedback.

    2. Checking up dir300 dlink. ( not required for above method )
