Thread: Beam fiber - no wifi

Hi,

I have recently switched from airtel 2 mbps connection to beam 10 mbps unlimited connection. When the technician had asked for a laptop to check the connection, i had given him my wife's laptop. He made me purchase netgear WGR614 and said he would configure it. Now he is not able to and i cant connect my work laptop and my voip phone.

I would be greatful if someone could Help me configure the wifi router so that multiple laptops could accessbthe net. Appreciate your time and help.

Select dynamic IP in wgr 614 wifi router.
Answer No when asked ID/PW entry required.
Disable Mac address filter list.
Test also lan mode Lan1 to computer ethernet port.
Mention OS used. If Windows 7 try application "connectify"

Thanks essbebe. I tried the same settings. However, it doesnt work. The link light is constantly blinking yellow. When I connect the cable to my wife's laptop, it is connected to the internet. Does Beam bind the MAC address?

Thanks for the tip on connectify. This however doesn't help me connect my VOIP phone. I need the router to work for my VOIP to work.

The problem is You don't have access to beam Network (LAN)
Assume you are part of a lan.
With Rj45 connected to WAn port of WGR614 v9 all systems can be connected.
Connect your VOIP unit to LAN1
wifi as usual.
As i do not know your familiarity with computer network/jargon
will give more details if needed.

LAN 1 to computer works fine as i can access the router software. The computer connects to the router via LAN as well as WiFi.

I had connected the RJ45 cable from BEAM network to the WAN port and had connected the computer via LAN. The router has been set to obtain IP and DNS automatically. VOIP is connected to LAN 2.

The WAN symbol on the router's face (i) is blinking yellow constantly.

Check Wireless settings.
Does the ssid you named appear?
Select Channel 11 Also check MAC entries.
Refer this Emulator for your feedback.
If possible post as attachment ( jpg ) the router status page.

You can change the cableRJ45 from WAN internet port to LAN port1 also and try.
