If you just get a RJ45 from Alliance, use a stand alone WIFI router.
Example ;Netgear WGR614V6. ( select Dynamic IP)
Connect rj45 from computer end to WAN port. Another rj45 back to desktop.
Confirm connection Ok.
Then try wifi in laptop.
Borrow one wifi router from friend and then try.
