Rep Power: 0 | I do not think that Opel is still in the market. They have not lauched any new car in market for a long time and more over i have seen that people have even closed there service centers in my city. So i think that they are getting out of market. |

Rep Power: 5 | The OPEL brand belonged to General Motors (GM). Whereas the brand OPEL has been discontinued in India for quite some time now, GM very much exists in India. GM now operates under the brand CHEVROLET. All old Opel cars will continue to get service from GM outlets but spares will be hard to come by.

GM has many brands such as Chevrolet, Oldmobile, Pontiac, Opel (in Europe), Holden (in Aus-NZ), Vauxhall (in UK), and GM itself just to name a few. Cadilac is the luxury brand from GM. GM also aquired Daewoo Motors. The Chevrolet Optra is originally a Daewoo brand. Ford mainly operates under its own brand but has also other brands such as Mercury and Lincoln (its luxury brand). The last of the big three from USA is Chrysler. It has the brands such as Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge. In 1998, Diamler AG of Germany (maker of the Mercedes) purchased Chrysler Corp to form Diamler-Chrysler. But last year Diamler sold 80% of its stake. GM and Ford are big companies but are potentially sick currently; Chrysler is doing OK. Rajan77, all cars may be good but you would be well advised to choose carefully. You do not want to end up with a good car whose manufacturer is financially healthy and may discontinue operations. For example, Opel Astra was an extremely good car four years ago (it is good even by today's standards) but manufacturing was stopped, spares were difficult to get and that really hit the resale value. | |

Rep Power: 10 | You are right and to add to that list is Fiat who have discontinued their diesel cars in India ( Fiat Palio diesel version) and they are now selling for Rs50000-80000 for a two three years old model.. GM in India has their presence via their Chevy brand and to be honest their cars suck as compared to their counter parts here in India. Avio UV-A : gear shifting problems.. low milage and reverse gear problem is just irreparable. The drivers seat is just too low although the car isint too bad to look at. Spark : Its more of a joke .. dont have any good words for it as you can get Santro Xing or Zen estilo for more or less the same price. GM cars are notorious for breaking down after their initial three years.. and spare parts are pretty costly too. |

Rep Power: 1 | Opel is not in the market right now as you can see that they have not rolled out any new car .. but opel had been operating in india under GM and second thing getting second hand opel would notbe agood option as it has expensive spare parts which is bad thing for a second hand car which need spare replacement.. |
